Round Robin Border 4
It’s Monday once again, and time to share the Stay At Home Round Robin Border 4. I’m so excited to show this week’s border to you.
Host for this week is Roseanne at Home Sewn by Us. You’ll want to be sure and read her post about this fun border.
The first thing needed for my quilt top was a coping border.
The next border is a checkerboard, so I got to work. I cut 1-1/2 inch strips of red and cream, sewed together and then cut into 1-1/2″ inch units. Those cuts were then sewn together as 4-patch units. They went together swimmingly; I was buzzing right along, until I realized somewhere along the say I had messed up the orientation. So that’s my tip for this round — keep an eye on the orientation of your checkerboard units!
I decided to add this border all the way around my quilt top, but leave the corner blocks cream.
I am very happy with the look of my quilt so far. I hope you are enjoying yours, as well! It’s been so fun to see all the quilts and variations of the borders.

Enjoy working on your Round Robin Border 4 this week! I’ll look forward to seeing how you use this border!
And next week is my week to show you the border I chose. I think it’s a fun one – so plan to stop back next Monday!

It’s fun to watch your quilt grow and see your design choices. Kudos for keeping it flat with all the tiny pieces!

Oh what fun! I think your checkerboard border is gorgeous. Am really enjoying the weekly surprise of seeing how the quilt evolves. (And I have learnt a new term — coping border. Very clever.)

This looks great, Wendy. I really like how you left the corners cream. I think it gives a great place for your eye to rest!

Good morning, Wendy! I adore your little red and cream checkerboard, and those solid cream corners look spiffy, too. Your top is coming together so nicely. I can’t wait for your Round next week!! ~smile~ Roseanne

That looks great, Wendy! I really like the variety you have in your borders – some just top and bottom or in the corners, and now this one all the way around. I’m ready to work with squares! 🙂

It’s looking great. I did a checkerboard border like that once, and I know just what you mean about the orientation.

It’s so interesting to see how the borders change the look of the quilt top week to week. I wasn’t sure how the flag square would work in the middle at the time you introduced it but it is such a beautiful block and all the borders only make it shine more.

I love your checkerboard, and the red and cream is so classic! I wish I had used solid corners; I had to fudge mine a bit to make them work. Looks great!
Susan
Looking good Wendy!

Nice choice of the checkerboard. The coping strip and checkerboard are great additions to your quilt. It is turning out quite lovely!

Your project is coming together nicely, and I really like how you are including places for the eye to rest along with the visually interesting fabrics, especially the coping strip.

Your SAHRR is coming along great! I started to play along and got stopped! I probably will finish it, but I am not pleased with the orphan block I started with.

Oh my goodness, I LOVE what the checkerboard does for this! And I like leaving the corners in cream–good call.

Your RR is looking great. I like that coping border. I may need something like that for mine before I add the checkerboard which is currently on the design wall.
