SAHRR Border 5
Another Monday is here, and it’s time for the reveal of Border 5 for our SAHRR quilts. Our host for this border is Emily at The Darling Dogwood so be sure you stop over to her post and see what she has added to her quilt. You’ll also want to be sure to visit her this week to link up your posts or photos so we can see your progress.
Last week, I finished my flying geese units, but I didn’t complete the border because I was waiting for Emily’s choice, which is a square in a square block. Here is my finished border:
I apologize for the poor photo. This is actually taken in my new quilt space, but there is a work table blocking the sunlight and causing shadowing. (No, I’m not in my new space yet, but I’m sneaking in there for photos now and then!) Anyway, I chose to make only four square in a square blocks and place them at the corners. The center of each block is the same green fabric I’m using for the green borders in each round. My square in a square blocks are 3-1/2″ unfinished. To construct the block, I used a 3-1/2″ green square and four 2″ gray squares.
The End is Near!
How can that be?! This SAHRR has flown by, at least for me. We have one more border to add after this, and then it will be all about the finish!

I think using the same green in the square in a square blocks was a good choice. I really like what you’ve done so far.

For a fleeting moment I thought, ‘She moved into her new sewing studio and didn’t let us know???’
Perhaps the end is in sight for that finish as well? Meanwhile – it’s lookin’ good!

Hi Wendy! LOVE the idea of using SIAS in each corner with the FGs. It makes for a nicely balanced quilt top, I think. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

I like your square in a square blocks as cornerstones! Your SAHRR is one of my favorites this year – I really love your colors. I just googled “size chart for square in a square blocks” and came up with another helpful post from Quilting Jet Girl!
Brenda @ Songbird Designs
The green center is definitely the way to go with those blocks! It pulls everything together really well! Of course, I love that green fabric!! LOL

Beautiful! I like making sq in sq blocks so I want to make a bunch. Plus I have stacks of squares already cut in the fabrics I am trying to use up. Just have to come up with a design.
Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl
The square in a square blocks make great cornerstone anchors. This has moved right along!

I love the green borders between the rounds. Great idea!

I like the way you have combined the last two rounds for one border. That green is nice and bright and that gray really compliments the whole quilt. Is it a grunge? How big is the quilt now. And how wonderful the new sewing room is progressing so well.
Charlene
Love it!

Same colour is a great balance and give this quilt such a relaxing and pieceful view. Nomen est omen. .. lol… The grunge fabric is doing a very good basic work. All colours are living in harmony here. Love this grunge fabrics too. Have a good SAHRR week for you and to all! Enjoy!

I like the combo flying geese/square in a square border. I’m also placing my SIS blocks in the corners. They just work so perfectly there!
Emily
I love this soooo much! I have not been commenting on each round but I adore your center–a robin for the round robin!! 🙂 And each row has built on it so well. I love the green you are using for the sashing and making your squares in the square with the same green is a great touch. I’m really excited to see how this finishes!

Wendy I love the way your SAHRR is coming together. Your green coping border in between the rows is the perfect way to balance everything. I’m also getting very curious to see you new sewing room!

That combination of prompts into one works very well with all that is going so far. Love the look of spring in contrast to the big snow that I see out my window!
Janine @ Rainbow Hare
This is such a lovely quilt. Each addition makes me smile 🙂
