SAHRR Center Block
Today I get to reveal my SAHRR Center Block as we kick off the 2023 Stay at Home Round Robin sew along. Many thanks to Quilting Gail for all her work organizing this fun event. Here is the schedule for the SAHRR, with links to each co-host. You’ll want to pop over and see their center blocks, too. I haven’t seen them either, so I’m excited to see what my quilting friends have come up with!

I wasn’t sure what block I was going to use for my center block this year. Actually I had in mind to use a small block, like 6 inches, just to see if I could make the borders that small. Thankfully I came to my senses – LOL – when this block came along.
This robin block was recently released by Sandra Healy Designs. I had the pleasure of testing this block for Sandra, and while stitching it up, I thought – what better for a round robin quilt than a robin block for its center. It just seems right! This 12.5″ block went together easily, and I enjoyed using my scraps to create it. The background fabric is Grunge in Faded Denim. I haven’t decided if I will use that as a background throughout, or if I’ll go with something a little lighter. I’m considering options, so you’ll have to see what I decide in my post on the 23rd.
Another reason to stop back here on the 23rd – I’ll be showing you a center block from a friend of mine, Eva. She isn’t on social media, so I offered to post her block each week for her. Wait until you see her center block – it’s lovely! I cannot wait to share it with you!
I hope you are sewing along with us. If so, be sure to go link up over at Quilting Gail at the link above. We all want to see your blocks! If you don’t have your center block chosen yet, it’s okay – you have time to choose one and get it posted.

I really like your robin. My center is a bird block too, though I went with different species. I’m looking forward to playing along this year.

I love your robin block and that denim grunge looks so good with him.

Truly, your block is perfect! This will be fun to see what you do with each round. Twice this January a flock of robins has visited our yard, so it’s a year for robins.

Ha! Your bird is delightful and, yes, so very appropriate as the centre block for a round robin quilt. Clever you! Hope Wilbur’s nose (whiskers) aren’t out of joint! I look forward to watching the progression as you add the borders.
Again, I was sorely tempted to join in. Maybe next year…
