SAHRR Finally Finished
SAHRR Finally Finished! I can’t think of a better way to start the week than with a finish. If you recall, when the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) 2022 Parade of Quilts came around, my quilt wasn’t done. I had given it to Connie to quilt, and her longarm had some issues and needed repairs, so I had to wait a bit. Now it’s back, and Connie reallly had fun with this quilt, adding her own improv vibe with the quilting. I love it!
If you are new to my blog (I’m so glad you’re here!), let me give you a little background about the Stay at Home Round Robin QAL. While we were all stuck at home during the pandemic, Quilting Gail came up with the idea of hosting a Round Robin QAL. Normally a Round Robin quilt along meant a center block was chosen and sent along to another participant in the QAL who added a border. Then that participant sent it along to another, who added. yet another border, and so on. With the Stay at Home Round Robin, all borders were added by the owner of the center block. There was no mailing of the quilt from place to place. There were six of us who co-hosted with Gail, each choosing a border for our week, and sharing a little tutorial for the border on each of our blogs.
For my SAHRR 2022, I chose to be a little different, and make an improv quilt using the borders for each week. It was grand fun!
Here are some close up photos of the quilting, so you can see the various designs Connie used for my quilt.
Bubbles, swirls and feathers . . .
Geometric meander and straight lines . . .
And some fun squiggly stippling.
Wilbs flopped down on the quilt as if to say, “SAHRR finally finished! It took you furrrever!”
This is the second Round Robin quilt I’ve completed as part of the Stay at Home Round Robin hosted by Quilting Gail. You can see my first SAHRR quilt here.
Will there be another Stay at Home Round Robin? I hear mummerings, so be watching for that in the coming year. I’m already making plans!
Happy Monday, all!

Goodness me what a super finish. Love all the swirls and curls.
Quilting is in my Blood
Connie’s quilting totally complemented your improv piecing, and I LOVE the pic of Wilbs flopped down on the finished quilt!

I love the clean white negative space… summery feel. That middle square, though… It says “Wendy made this!” loud and clear. Nice job.

WOW! This is a lovely quilt and the quilting just adds to the overall wow factor.

Well that was a finish worth waiting for! What a glorious quilt, I really love the design and the quilting is so much fun. I’m just sorry Wilbs had to wait so long. 😉

Wow, the quilting and and your improv are an amazing combination! This really is great! I bet you’re tickled to have it done. Will you display this upstairs in your special quilt spot? I hope you do another round robin just because it’s fun for me to watch how you approach it.

It’s so fun to see your SAHRR again, Wendy! I love the way your improv designs came together in those pretty bright colors, and the quilting just adds to it. I don’t remember – did you make the center block specifically for the round robin, or did you start with an orphan? Congratulations on a beautiful finish!

That turned out so cute. Love all that color.

well that turned out great – improv is interesting and some of you all seem to do really well with it – I can never get into it myself but usually like what I see when others do it.

The quilt sparkles and the long arm quilting is playfully done. Thank you for sharing your finished quilt. Happy creative summer.

It turned out fantastic!! Are you keeping this one for you? You are so good at the SAHRR:) I love Helen’s comment about the center block-so true!!! It’s really dark here, might be more than one system coming through today.

Hi Wendy! WOWEE! The quilting is absolutely the cherry on top or the whipped cream, if you will. I just adore the geometric meander – it could not be any more purrfect. And Wilbs!! Enjoy the finish – it was worth waiting for. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Great finish, Wendy! This quilt is so bright and fun! Love the quilting; it complements and makes this very interesting to look at! 🙂
Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl
The improv style quilting is the perfect compliment to the quilt top. What fun and definitely worth the wait on Gail’s longarm to be fixed and back to being ready to go. 🙂

Connie did an absolute fabulous job on the quilting … but was only able to because you made a fabulous top! Obviously Wilbs approves! 🙂

Connie did a fabulous job with the quilting, but you sure provided her with one excellent quilt! I love the emphasis she gave some parts with the lines, then all the different quilting motifs are so much fun. I would say Wilbs is wrong about his assessment – and quilt finished in the year it is started is a good finish in my book! He does, however, remain a beautiful specimen on the quilt!

Fabulous finish, Wendy. Congratulations!!
