SAHRR Round Five
SAHRR Round Five! How can that be?! It seems like we just started, and now, after this week, we have one more border for our Stay at Home Round Robin quilts of 2022!
Our host this week, is Quilting Gail. Gail came up with the idea for the SAHRR, did you know that? She is the one who organizes the rest of us co-hosts, and keeps us moving forward. I am so grateful to her for sharing her creative idea, and letting me be part of it.
Each week, one of us who host chooses the block for the border. This week, Gail is giving us options! I love options, don’t you? This week, you get the choice of adding appliqué as your quilt border, or the rail fence block. You can even add both, if you wish. It’s your quilt!
I really wanted to add appliqué to my border. I tried circles, I tried orange peels, I considered bias tape (seriously). No matter how I tried, though, it just didn’t feel right. So, I opted for some rail fence corner blocks, because a full border of rail fence would overwhelm the quilt, in my opinion.
My quilt now measures 43″ square, and has outgrown my little design wall. I had to resort to taping the quilt up on my bedroom closet doors to get a photo in some decent light.
Last week, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how each of you used the Signature Block in your borders! You are such a creative bunch! Thanks for linking up!
Now – go make your blocks for SAHRR Border 5, and don’t forget that this week you will link up with Gail. You can read her post and link up here.
Happy sewing, all!

Love everything about this Wendy! I’ve been doing traditional quilting blocks lately (must do projects), you’ve given me inspiration to play now when I get there!

Each week your quilt presents a new and beautiful surprise. I think the improv rail fence corners are perfect. Well done on trying out applique designs first (lots of work!) and then opting for this stunningly simple alternative.
Cindy Pieters
I like that you only used the rail fence blocks in the corners!

I love how your middle part gives the illusion of being rounded, then you added the nifty square corners on this round, Wendy!!! It’s looking more and more like a confetti party every week!!!

This is not only a well done ‘modern quilt’ but very refreshing to the eyes…can’t put it any other way!
karenfae
very modern looking!

This row really ties your quilt together well! You have good intuitive design. It’s fun to watch the quilt evolve.

The corners are the perfect touch. I kinda think you should enter this in something or submit it to a mag. It’s really good, and so mod & different!

I agree, Wendy – those rail fence corners are perfect for your modern improv quilt! I love the bright, fresh colors against the silver background. I think I might go with applique, though – I have an idea already. (Ha! I said that last Monday, too and ended up completely changing my mind over the week!) Have a great Monday!

Oh…those corner pieces look fantastic! This is turning out so cute.

You are right on target with this border, it blends perfectly with the rest of your quilt.

Your quilt is just so cheerful! I’m loving it, Wendy! I’m not much of an appliqué girl so I will probably do fence rails in the corners similar to yours. That will finish off my 4th and 5th rounds! One more to go…it is hard to believe!

This is so great and so much movement. You have done a fabulous job doing improv all the way.

Hi Wendy! It is obvious why any other ideas didn’t feel right. That’s because these little rail fence blocks were meant to be on this piece. It just gets better and better. One more week to pure perfection in a quilt top. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Love your rail fence! I agree that a whole border of rail fence would be too much. The mainly white border fits in with your quilt! One more week to go! 🙂

No applique, huh? I’m loving that “corner wrap” thing you’ve got going on, Wendy!
Cindy Berry
As per usual your fabric choices and placement look great! I have not joined in but feel inspired to do so on my own sometime to use up some old blocks lying around. Great Job!
Vicki Welsh
This is looking fabulous!

Wendy your SAHRR is just getting sweeter and sweeter, the rail fence blocks in the corners are perfect. If you would have done them all around it would be overpowering.
Preeti Harris
This keeps getting better and prettier and lovelier. You go girl!!!
Laura
Keeping it simple was definitely the right choice here! Anything else would overwhelm this light and bright fantabulous quilt! 🙂
Kathy Swallows
The bright colors with all the white is really dramatic. It’s been such fun to see how everyone interprets the weekly prompts.

Great idea for this border! It’s so fun to watch your project grow more sparkly with each round!
