Sally Seahorse
Sally Seahorse and her twinsie are swimming through my post today. The last of the blocks for the Awesome Ocean SAL hosted by Kathleen McMusing, these little blocks have multiple pieces but finish up so cute!
I have been using my batik scraps for my Awesome Ocean blocks. It’s been fun, and a bit challenging, to find fabrics that work together. Batiks usually blend pretty well, but the challenge with these blocks was to find fin fabric that stood out a bit from the body.
Coming up next is constructing the quilt top – it goes together well if you are following the pattern layout. Be sure to square your blocks, if you haven’t done so already!
I am very excited to show you my finished quilt, and where this little quilt traveled for a photo shoot. Okay, most of you know we took a road trip to Florida to visit our daughter. We had a wonderful time with her while she took us to some of her favorite places. Here’s a little peek of the site for the photo shoot.
Pretty little view, isn’t it? Isn’t the color of that water beautiful? We had a good time snapping photos, and I hope you enjoy seeing my little quilt in the wild. (A little hint – these little blocks felt right at home here.)
I hope you are following along with the Awesome Ocean SAL, and are getting your Sally Seahorse blocks finished. Don’t forget to label those pieces, and cutting them out beforehand is helpful too. And don’t forget to link up with Kathleen so we can all see your blocks!
Until then, stay home and stay healthy. I hope you are enjoying many hours of happy creativity in your quilting room! I’ve missed sewing, so I am ready to get some creativity flowing!

Seahorses are quirky, but you’ve captured their cuteness, Wendy! I’m excited to see your photos!!!

You must have been pretty far south in FL for that color water! We’re enjoying it in spades here in the Bahamas. Your aquatic quilt will look right at home in either place 🙂

Whoops! Not sure why that posted under my secret-squirrel anonymous name, but I’m Louise.

Your seahorses are so cute! Looks like you found a great spot for a photo shoot! Did you get to see manatees? I would love to have that experience someday.
Linda
Looks like you had a fun trip and maybe the little manatees are where they belong? Love the seahorses!

Love the sea horses and may be the inspiration I need to finish these blocks. BTW I’m so excited I was able to comment without having to submit 24 forms of ID- it was automatic!

I am getting a load of emails with junk text claiming to be posts from this blog – think you may have been hacked.

Wendy…what’s going on with the blog and with the emails that look like they are written in latin? Under your photo here there’s a picture of a young man, John Doe…with more Latin…. google your site and something weird comes up. I just deleted a dozen emails purportedly from you and some from My Carolina Home, all in latin.

Hi Wendy! Welcome home! Your seahorses look quite spiffy and colorful. I am looking forward to seeing your finished piece. I missed all the fun Latin posts. I hope you get the updates on your blog handled okay. I’d be happy to help you but it’s pretty darn hard long distance. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
