Seaside Block Party
You’re invited to join me for a Seaside Block Party today. Recently Sandra of Sandra Healy Designs released her nautical blocks. I had so much testing most of these blocks for Sandra, so let me show you my versions.
This crab block was the first block I tested, before I knew others were coming. So his coloring is a bit different than the other blocks. Not a thing about the construction of this block made me crabby, though. Although there are several little pieces, it goes together easily. I’ll be making another crab block soon, to match the rest of the blocks below.
I brightened things up a bit when I made the anchor. Rather than using gray, I decided to make the anchor in red. The background fabric is a bit directional, and that worked well as long as I paid attention as I constructed the block. This block went together quickly!
If there’s an anchor, there has to be a boat, right? My version of the little boat on a foggy day and bright cheery boat colors.
Don’t forget the fish! In her pattern, Sandra lets you choose which way the fish should face – or you can make one of each. I’ll be making one more going the other direction. This little block went together quickly!
The two blocks I have yet to make are the gull and the lighthouse. The gull is so cute, I cannot wait to get that block done. You can see these two blocks over at Sandra’s site. While you’re there, you can snap up the nautical bundle and join me in this Seaside Block Party!

The detail in those blocks is fantastic! I’m glad they didn’t make you crabby. 😉 I had a peek at Sandra’s website and love the gull and lighthouse – can’t wait to see yours. I really love that photo at the top that sets the “mood”.

Very cute blocks! I think you should leave the crab as he is … just my opinion!

So cute!
Is it not weird to make each one without knowing what the end product will look like?

Oh what fun! It’s going to be a lovely quilt.
Quilting is in my Blood
All of these blocks are great! It looks like they are all traditionally pieced. I read this post yesterday but didn’t have a chance to comment and today as I was scrolling through it again, I just noticed the two little fish underneath the boat. What a cute, extra touch! I could see me making up these blocks down the road.

These are so cute and would make a perfect quilt for my grandson. With the name Jonah, his room has always been whales and ocean since before he was even born. He’s outgrown his toddler quilt so I need to make a twin size very soon (like yesterday–sigh!).

Oh My! I’ve been trying to not add more to my plate, but these blocks are so stinking cute! I just might have to 😉

Hi Wendy! Oh, these are all so darn cute. I don’t see anything wrong with the crab . . . the coloring and your piecing look superb. I am especially drawn to the anchor – I could see a whole quilt of them. Nice job, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne
