Sidetracked

Sidetracked is the word of the day lately here at Pieceful Thoughts. We had a lovely weekend, celebrating Easter and celebrating my son’s 28th birthday. I apparently was still celebrating on Monday evening and got sidetracked, forgetting all about my To Do Tuesday post. And those To Do Tuesday projects? Well, I got my improv quilt finished, and if you haven’t seen it, you can find it here. Whenever I finish an improv quilt, I’m always ready to start another one. So rather than work on my panel quilt, I got sidetracked with another improv quilt using a layer cake.

I forgot to take a photo of the layer cake, sorry. You know what they look like, though. This particular layer cake was a pretty stack of Mostly Manor fabrics from Victoria Findlay Wolfe. I have had this layer cake hidden in my stash, but it was time to cut it up.

I call this quilt, Picnic with Dorothy, and once I have the quilt done, I’ll tell you the story behind that name. For now, I have decided this is the second of my picnic quilts. I’m as surprised as you to realize I am making a series of picnic quilts! Before I get sidetracked on that topic, back to Picnic with Dorothy. I have enough yardage of one of the fabrics for the backing, with a little left over. The left over yard could either be used to add a border or as binding, so I’m contemplating which I should do. I’m leaning toward binding.

Here’s a couple more photos so you can see the real colors in the quilt.

I have no to do list this week; since I will be taking a break next week. So I’m just getting sidetracked with fun projects this week.

Back soon! Happy sewing!

Wendy
