Sunny Sunflowers
I have some sunny sunflowers to share with you today. Earlier this week, Vicki of Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting released her Welcome the Sunflowers pattern. You can see her post about the release here. Vicki asked me to test the pattern for her, and I thoroughly enjoyed making these sunny sunflowers! Here’s my version, ready for me to hand stitch the binding.
Since my background fabric was a solid cream color, I decided to have a little fun and added a plaid quilting design using yellow and green thread. Here’s a closer view.
Once the quilting was complete, I added the sunflowers. I fused them on with SoftFuse, starting with the stems and leaves. I used a straight stitch on the stems and leaves, then used a zig zag stitch on the flowers.
Once I had the binding stitched down, I hung it up in my kitchen, and was surprised at how well it matched.
I thought you might get a chuckle out of this picture, with my Christmas quilt still hanging in my living room. I’ll get it changed out one of these days!
The Welcome the Sunflowers pattern is available for 25% off in Vicki’s Etsy Shop until May 10th, so hope over to Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting to grab a copy. You’ll enjoy making this one!
Happy Friday, all!

Sweet!!! And your other quilt doesn’t read Christmas–both are fun together!!!

What a bright and beautiful sunflower quilt. It looks very happy in the spot in which you have hung it. And your Christmas quilt seems to like the company! If you didn’t tell anyone it was a Christmas quilt, they might not guess!

I love those little plaids you used – they’re perfect for this design! Your version of Vicki’s pattern turned out great! Fun seeing where you have it hanging, too. Even if the other quilt is meant to be Christmas-y, it is still beautiful hanging there!

Wow that is beautiful. I really love your displays! Especially love the Christmas quilt photo-bombing. 😉 Your applique stitching is so neat and clean. I’ve never tried that on my machine, I really need to give it a shot. And the plaid quilting is perfect. Nice job!
Hope you are resting well this weekend.
