Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday
Today for the first time, I am hosting the linky party for Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday, or TGIFF. I’m excited to finally take a turn at hosting, and hoping I did everything correctly! Take a peek at my finish today, and then don’t forget to link up your finish below!
For three years, I participated in Pattern by Jen‘s Monthly Color Challenge. Jen is still hosting the challenge, but I took a year off this year. You can still join in this year’s challenge if it interests you. Just click on the link above for Jen’s site.
While I thoroughly enjoyed making the blocks each month, I am so slow at getting the quilts finished. Without question, I enjoy the process of constructing the quilt top so much more than the process of finishing the quilt. However, I do find great satisfaction when a quilt is finally finished. So let me show you my Monthly Color Challenge 2020 quilt, finally finished.
This quilt measures 48″ x 64″. I have not washed it yet, so I expect there will be some shrinkage. We used an 80/20 batting, and all of the fabrics for the blocks are from my stash. If you want to read my post on the finished quilt top, you can read that here. Here’s a peek at the fun quilting by my good friend and longarmer, Connie.
The swirly-swoopy design works so well with this quilt, don’t you think?
I used a wide back in a text print for the backing, and finished it with black binding.
There’s nothing better than marking “Done” next to a quilt in my UFO list. A great way to celebrate TGIFF!
Okay! Now it’s your turn! Link up below and ahow us your finished quilts so we can ooh and aah and celebrate with you! Don’t forget to link back to TGIFF in your post. Do stop by the other TGIFF-ers and leave a comment or two about their lovely finishes!
You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!
Happy Friday, all! Thanks for stopping by and linking up with me for Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday!

Congrats on the finish and on hosting TGIFF! I love your offset setting on this quilt.

That turned out great, Wendy! I love the black sashing you connected everything with, and the way the blocks are offset from each other. I still have my blocks from last year, and need to figure out what to do with them!
Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl
Hooray for getting the quilt finished! The quilting compliments it very nicely and I really love the backing fabric. Thank you so much for hosting TGIFF this week!
Barbara J Stanbro
That turned out beautifully! I’d forgotten about those blocks. Nice seeing them in a finished quilt.
Cindy Pieters
I like the setting and that black sashing and border set your blocks off beautifully!

Hooray for a great finish! It’s fun to see all the blocks come together so nicely, and it’s such cool backing. Thanks for hosting TGIFF!

Good morning, Wendy!! You did great with the linky party for today’s TGIFF. Thank you for hosting it! Your finish turned out just fab. I think getting all the lovely blocks into a final layout is the hardest part – deciding which layout to use, how to place the blocks, sashing or no sashing, borders or skip them? Once all those decisions are made, the rest is easy peasy. I just love how you staggered the rows. I never think to do that. I’m going to happily PIN this so maybe sometime in the future I might think to do it, thanks to you. Happy Friday! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

What a striking quilt! I know the feeling of crossing those items off that long list!! Enjoy your quilt.

I love your finish! Those are fun quilts and they really make nice lap quilt gifts! I love the black sashing and the quilting and the backing. The staggered rows is a nice touch too!

It’s great to see your monthly blocks all happily next to one another in this cheerful quilt. The fabric in the reverse side is gorgeous too. Yes, it must have been very satisfying to tick it off on your UFO list. Now you can snuggle under it

It turned out just super Wendy! Rainbow quilts just truly lift our spirits don’t they? I just finished a quilted bag; let’s see if I can write up a post to link up … maybe during a break from quilting Postcards!
Anja @ Anja Quilts
I like how you did the sashing. Add some movement.
Gwyned Trefehen
Congratulations on the TGIFF challenge quilt. I never would have thought to stagger the blocks the way you did. Love how that layout underscores the sampler effect of a different block each month.

I was going to link this morning but the party ended – catch you next time.

Great finish!! I remember each of these blocks as you did them, can’t believe that was 2020. Great finish, love the backing too!
texasquiltgal
That is a great finish, the quilting is perfect! I really love that text print on the back. I’m not doing the monthly challenge this year because of two years of blocks just sitting in a tray waiting to be made into a quilt.
Sorry I missed this linkup, not sure how that happened.
