Thankful Thursday
Can’t think of a better title than Thankful Thursday as we in the US gather with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for my family, and for all of you who stop by and read my posts so faithfully. I wish you all a day of happiness and laughter whether you are celebrating the holiday or just enjoying another day.
I’m joining in with LeeAnna over at Not Afraid of Color and the rest of my quilting friends who post their I LIke Thursday posts there. If you have time to relax and do some reading, I hope you will stop by their posts, too.
I’m thankful for a sweet friend who knows me well enough to give me this little reminder – just roll with it. Somedays I need to remember that!
I’m thankful for all the gifted bakers in our world, who share new recipes to try. This is Russian Black Bread from King Arthur Baking Co. (no affiliation). This is my second time making this recipe, and I think I have the hang of it now.
Another friend gifted me this lovely little teacup candle – isn’t it clever? The cup is secured to the plate. It’s almost too pretty to light!
From the pretty to not so pretty, but I’m thankful for a husband who can tackle unusual projects. We are gutting my upright piano and converting it to a working desk. As of yesterday, the harp (that big metal thing in the photo) is off and out in the trailer. That was the scariest part – it weighed somewhere around 350 lbs!
That same good friend who gave me the “Just Roll With It” sign also knows I enjoy a good read. I’m about halfway through this one. If you enjoy stories about food and relationships, you’ll enjoy this one.
Another gift from another good friend who knows me well. I hope that all of you have some time to do this kind of cooking this weekend!
The Weekly Wilbs
You all know I’m thankful for this fella. I’m pretty sure we will all be looking like him by the end of the days festivities of food, laughter and fun.
And with that, I’ll end my Thankful Thursday post. I’m thankful for you, my friends! Whatever you are doing today, I hope it brings you much joy, peace and contentment.

Happy Thanksgiving! That’s a great way to upcycle the tea cup. A friend gave me one that was attached to the end of a pole and was supposed to be a bird feeder. It eventually fell off the pole, unfortunately, and that was the end of that. Love the tea towel too.

That tea towel is priceless, Wendy! I got a good laugh out of reading the sentiment.

Happy Thanksgiving, Wendy! Your brown bread looks so yummy. That book has also been recommended to me by others, and it sounds like I really need to read it. Hope you’re having a lovely day!

Happy Turkey Day!! I love that towel, so perfect for a quilter:) That must have been one heck of a challenge getting the harp out of the house, yowzers!

Just roll with it – I try to tell myself that all the time. 🙂 Pretty teacup. Piano harps are incredible. Also take a boatload of tension. What an unusual desk that will be! I’m hoping to be making a quilt sandwich this week – extra cooking for me. 😉

That quilt sandwich is the ONLY cooking I plan to do this weekend! LOL Love it! That bread looks wonderful and the tea cup candle is beautiful! What an interesting project with your old upright! Can’t wait to see the finish on that desk. I’m going in search of a restaurant so I can be like Wilbs this afternoon! LOL I wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving, Wendy. I’m glad to count you as one of my blessings, It’s great to have cyberfriends!

Happy Thanksgiving. The piano undertaking is going to be a big one. The dish towel is too cute. Hope you get time to eat good food and stitch a bit this weekend.

What a wonderful list of thankfulness. I love each of those especially the piano open like that. It is quite beautiful with the harp…very artsy. The tea towel is lovely. Another book for my never ending list (LOL) and a great photo of Wilbs. Soon everyone will arrive with the Thanksgiving contributions and we will sit, visit, eat, laugh and groan. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

I cannot wait to see what the finished piano/desk thing will be! How did you ever come up with the idea for this project?

Hi Wendy! I wonderful post of likes for the week. I surely hope you show us the finished desk! I am amazed and in awe of anyone who can take something apart like that and repurpose it! Cannot wait to see the end result. Thanks for the Wilbs update. Happy Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Happy Thanksgiving Wendy. I hope you had a fun, festive and food-filled (ha, that just came as I typed) day! I must admit I cringed at what you’re doing to your piano. I had to block my emotions when I sold mine before we moved from Alberta to here. I haven’t played now in a decade! Interesting-looking bread and that tea towel is the best!

Love your Thanksgiving display with “just roll with it!”
My heart almost stopped when I saw your gutted piano!!! NO!! NO!! NO!! my mind yelled! Even though I rarely play my piano, I could never envision gutting it to make a desk. After my heart attack, and when I felt calmer, I thought – well, it the backboard is broken and if it’s not a nice sounding piano – it will likely make a nice desk! So … now I’m demanding that you show us progress pictures and of course the finished desk!
The picture of Wilbs being “chill” helped to still my beating heart! 🙂

I’ll be interested in seeing what an upright piano converted to a writing desk looks like! That BigJ is sure talented! That little rooster next to your roll with it sign is cute, too!!! Happy Thanksgiving weekend, Wendy!!!

I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful – ours sure was. Man, what a project on the piano. Looking forward to seeing that. That bread! I’ve saved it to give it a try – we used to eat black bread on our sandwiches in college and loved it. I’m thankful for your photos of Wilbs. 😀

Oh, so much I am teaching myself to just “roll with” lately. That’s a great little reminder to have around. The bread looks wonderfully fluffy and I bet it tasted great! Added the book to my list–maybe over the Christmas break? (or during a basketball game! Ha!) Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving!
Colette
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Love the little rolling pin, so cute. Oh your black bread looks yummy, I love King Arthur recipes, they are almost always awesome. Wilbs looks like he is settling in for a long winter’s nap. Oh the harp on a piano is amazing, just the weight alone.

Wonderful loves and things to be thankful for. That piano project is a quite something! I love the teacup candle and the quilty towel! Grateful for the Wilbs weekly shot, too!
Quilting is in my Blood
Happy belated Thanksgiving! I am definitely thankful for my supportive fellow quilters, and you are absolutely one of my favorites! I had a great and fast Thanksgiving weekend cooking, eating, sewing/quilting, and starting to decorate for Christmas.
