The Forest
The forest has taken shape, all the tree blocks are now sewn together and the quilt top is done. Gathering my low volume scraps and print scraps, the forest quickly came together. Using The Painted Forest quilt pattern by Blue Nickel Studios, it all started with three trees that were well matched.
Then things got a little wild when I started mixing it up a bit.
And now the forest has gathered.
At this point, I could point out things that bug me as I look at this top, but I’m just going to be happy with it. I did change out a couple of the low volume backgrounds (two that were way too light). It was a fun pattern, and I’ve made some notes for the next time around.
Did I make a dent in my scraps bin? A little. I didn’t take a before and after photo, but I can get the lid on the bin much easier now than before. It was nice to clean it up and organize it, so it’s ready for the next round of scrappy play.
Next up is to make the backing. I haven’t quite decided on what that will be yet, but I will be shopping my stash over the weekend.
Enjoy your weekend, my friends! Happy Stitching!
Wendy

Looks like the forest has been naughty resulting in some very interesting hybrid tree varieties 😀

A wonderful fallish forest. Some of those trees remind me of a couple in my front yard that need to be trimmed back into shape. This looks like you had lots of fun. I love the variety of backgrounds, too.

What a fun quilt this is turning into. I love the fall-ish colors, but not really….and the low volume backgrounds are fabulous! I think it is perfect and love how you dive in for fun on a project and then it there is a top…so much fun! I hope you find the perfect back when you are shopping in your stash.

Yeah, it’s fabulous how you pulled it together. It resembles a stroll on a fall day when the leaves are starting to change.
