Pieceful Life

Thursday Likes

I’m popping by to share a few Thursday Likes with you today as I join up with LeeAnna and the rest of my Thursday friends over at Not Afraid of Color. Each week we share things we see or do that bring us a little joy.

A trio of Grunge fabric that I couldn't resist - piecefulthoughts.com

A local quilt shop was having a skinny bolt sale, giving a discount if you purchased the remaining yardage on the bolt. I came home with these three mustard yellow Grunge fabrics. I’m not sure how I will use these yet, but I do like the look of those three together.

Emily (The Darling Dogwood) and I are doing a little mini quilt along together. I got my fabrics cut this week. I’m using V & Co’s Fairy Dust Ombre. The colors are so vibrant and pretty. More about the project in a later post!

While I sew, I usually watch the squirrels trying to get to the birdseed in this feeder. We grease the pole, just to give them a little challenge. This little one figured out he/she could just lay on the perch ring and enjoy all the seed. He would eat a little, then scoot around the ring a bit, and eat some more. I had to snap a quick (fuzzy) photo before he jumped off when I startled him.

My daughter enjoyed a little road trip last week, and brought me home this rooster. Isn’t he gorgeous? He stands about 24″ tall. I left him on my counter for a little bit, but now he is out on the deck, enjoying the sunshine.

The Weekly Wilbs

Wilbs has just about had enough of this hot, hot weather. He has stayed as cool as he can by sleeping most of the day. I had to chuckle at this unusual pose.

Notice that look he’s giving me. Pretty sure this photo isn’t on his list of Thursday Likes! Haha!

I hope you’ve found some of your own likes this week! Thanks for stopping by!

How wonderful to get fabric on sale!! Those are fun colors and I love the confetti colors you have as well! The squirrel photo made me chuckle but Wilb’s expression made me laugh out loud! Oh my, he’s the most expressive cat, isn’t he? LOL, have a great weekend Wendy!

That squirrel–lol!! Can’t wait to see what you and Em are working on! That was sweet of your DD to bring you home a roster for your garden–but he looks pretty good standing on a patchwork pedestal, too!!

  • marissthequilter

That’s quite a list of likes! I confess to envy at the sight of those bolts of fabric. The rooster is lucky to have found such a good home. I am sure he will also enjoy watching the squirrels

  • Tracie

The rooster is fantastic! And you scored some nice Grunge. It always goes with something! I hope you and Wilbs find a cool spot today. It looks like relief is in sight.

Squirrels are ridiculous and the rooster is fabulous. Can’t wait to see what you and Emily are up to!

Hi Wendy! Ooh, that V&C Fairy Dust fabric looks so pretty. I was dwelling on a jelly roll of that fabric. Can’t wait to see what you make! Those squirrels are so clever about getting the bird seed! I wonder what Wilbs thought about the rooster? It’s a good sized one – he might have thought it was a challenger to him.Yes, it looks like you woke up Wilbs – he didn’t want his picture taken right then. HAHA! Happy Thursday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

Love your new fabric, Wendy. Wilbs should be laying on those because he matches. I do think that was the evil eye he was giving you. Wish I was that nimble. Love the rooster. The neighborhood rooster went missing and I miss his crows. Squirrels! Glad they are in your yard and not mine. I see little chipmunks when I’m on my walk. Hope it cools off for you. It’s heating up here!

it is never too hot to not sleep on a soft blankie. Those squirrels are so smart, they will eat no matter what. Every squirrel for himself!
    your fabrics are awesome together

  • Katherine Duquette

Love your Wilbs pics! I don’t know how to attach a photo here. I will message you one. I always enjoy what you are working on. Many of your color combinations are my choices too. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend.

You’ve hit the fabric jackpot, Wendy! I love the Grunge and the Fairy Dust, too. I’ll enjoy seeing what you made with them. The rooster is really neat! But the big question really is… what does Wilbur think of him? 🙂

  • quiltinggail

I’m sure that you’ll find a great use for the fabric you bought! Grunge is so versatile! How fun that you and Emily are doing a sew-a-long together!! SEW much fun to quilt with friends! I like the Rooster! How sweet of your daughter to give him to you! My hubby would agree that he belongs out on the deck … me? I’d like to see him front and centre where I could admire him all the time! 🙂
Wilbs deserves a belly rub! 🙂

  • Sally

I love that rooster. I agree – those grunge fabrics look great together. That look Wilbur has looks very similar to guinea pig stink-eye (which I got today while taking photographs). lol

  • The Morning Latte

Mustard + grunge = FALL! If I’d been there you might have had to fight me for those! ;o). HA HA what a lazy squirrel (though maybe not so lazy if he made it up the greased pole. Maybe he was exhausted?). YES, that rooster is awesome! Um, Wilbs, that makes my neck hurt just looking at you!!

  • texasquiltgal

I want skinny bolts! Love the mustards, never can have enough Grunge. That rooster is excellent. Your daughter did good. We have bird seed in a feeder hung on a big crape myrtle right outside our closet window. There is a little bench in front of the window, for the cats of course. Early spring there were birdies galore and the occasional squirrel. I don’t see the birds anymore, but there is grass growing under the feeder, so something is causing the bird seed to fall! Wilbs is doing exactly what my cats are doing – looking lazy and adorable.

Purty fabrics. How fun to be sewing with a friend. Speaking of friends, what a silly squirrel. You got a great picture!

  • Colette

Oh I love your grunge fabric! Can’t wait to see what you make and the ombre is lovely too. The rooster is awesome and probably much quieter than my gentlemen. Poor Wilbs, enjoy the A/C inside dude.
