Pieceful Life

Thursday Thoughts

It’s time for me to share a few Thursday thoughts with you, and with the rest of my Thursday friends over at Not Afraid of Color. LeeAnna has given us a theme this week of a health or beauty product that we find helpful. I’ll share a bit about that later in this post. For now, I thought I’d catch up a bit by sharing a few other things first.

The leaves are just beginning to turn here, the mornings are chilly and the afternoons are warm and inviting. The photo above was taken on a little getaway a few years ago. I love the golden leaves and how they glow.

My daughter knows me well! She gave me this mug a few weeks ago, and I kept forgetting to share a photo of it. That pretty much sums it up lately!

A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting by Sophie Irwin, a fun and enjoyable read - piecefulthoughts.com

I just finished this book last week. It was a fun read, especially if you enjoy the regency genre and are familiar with the Austen books.

Favorite Movies

Last week, LeeAnna wanted to know our “go to movies” – the ones we watch over and over again. If I’m in the mood for a romance, I will usually watch You’ve Got Mail. There are so many lines from the movie that make me chuckle, and I’ve watched it enough times that I’m picking up on things that you don’t notice in a single viewing. If I want to watch something to make me laugh, I enjoy the Jumanji movies (2017 and 2019), especially the second one where the characters are older. It never fails when I just want to watch something silly.

Health and Beauty Products

Well, I have very little to share here. I wear very little make-up, just mascara and a little eyeliner, and I’m not into lotions and that kind of thing. Even my shampoo is basic, just Dove shampoo and conditioner.

The Weekly Wilbs

Wilbs and his awesome whiskers - piecefulthoughts.com

A little throwback Thursday photo for the Weekly Wilbs. He wanted to show off his fantastical whiskers! He has been enjoying his autumn sun naps lately, too! That’s his beauty routine, lots of sun napping.

Thanks for stopping by to read my Thursday thoughts! What’s something fun you did this week?

Hi Wendy! Aww, Wilbs looks like he was really enjoying the sun in that photo, and his whiskers really have it going on. I don’t use much as far as beauty products go, too. Oil of Olay face wash and body wash in the shower, and no specific shampoo. I don’t even bother with mascara any more! I hope you have a wonderful Thursday, my friend. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

LOL at that cup – it’s perfect!
Interesting how our beauty routines have changed. I sold Mary Katy cosmetics in the 1980s, then when I worked in an office I bought beauty products from the department store. Now all my stuff comes from Walmart – lol! Nivea Soft is my “moisturizer”, and I use toner to clean my face at night unless I have makeup to remove, then it’s Ponds cold cream cleanser to the rescue. I actually like those two inexpensive products as well as any I used in the past. My makeup consists of concealer, a little blush, eyeliner, and mascara. Gone are the days of foundation and shadow!
Wilbs looks quite handsome in the fall sunlight. 🙂

Oh yeh, You’ve Got Mail or Sleepless in Seattle! Gotta have my eye makeup on or I feel naked! Perfect up-good job Molly!!

  • Laura

We should all take that beauty page from Wilbs’ book!
I don’t wear makeup or use perfume. Most of my potions are of the edible kind…As in baking! And some potions are of the fabric dyeing sort. In the self care department, I am a very basic girl. I do use Olay to cleanse and lotion my face.😊

Never been much for make up though I suspect that’s a result of 3 factors: my personality, Ma’s example (an earthy commercial artist) and as the Who says, “My Generation”
    😎
That said, please thank Wilbs for introducing me to a new natural beauty routine: autumn sun naps!

Ha! I gave up makeup during the pandemic and have seldom looked back. Just mascara for work, so that people can actually see my eyes, plus it looks better on Zoom. I am a lotions kind of chick, though! I’ll try anything, but usually go for Neutrogena. I love your mug!

Happy Thursday Wendy. What a great shot of Wilbs! Definitely use lotions and just a bit of face powder and a little light brown color on the eyelids for me . Spending this weekend with 3 friends crafting, sewing and eating and enjoying each other’s company. Fall temps have finally arrived here in the deep South and we plan to enjoy them. Have a great weekend.

Love that mug. And after the HOT summer I’m looking forward to fall. Haven’t worn makeup since I had to wear hard contact lenses. Use neutrogena hand cream. If I had whiskers like Wilb (and who says I don’t LOL) I’d show them off in the sun, too.

Aw Wendy, you started and finished your post with beautiful glowing things! I could use that mug too…I have lots of both kind of squirrels here. I’ve been taking more care of my skin since retiring but I’m like you, I don’t wear much makeup. Dove is a great brand.

Love the mug, autumn pictures, You Got Mail, Pretty Woman, and tons of others that make sense, any movies by Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, JoLo, Julia Roberts. And of course the older Movies with great stars! Make up. I had to quit using any eye makeup years ago, but I do use Cetaphil moisturizer and now a Cetaphil Scrub for Sensitive Skin. Roscea got me in my eyes, so I use Occusoft scrubs to cleanse my eyes in the AM/PM, this is to keep the oil ducts open! Works great! During my 38 years of work I only used Estée Lauder products – but then they started putting Colligan in the products and I could no longer use them. Hugs

I don’t use makeup these days. Love the mug. Fav film is Butch Cassidy. I mean come on Paul Newman and Robert Redford, it’s funny and I get to cry at the end.
