Thursday Thoughts

Good morning, friends! I have some Thursday thoughts and likes to share with you today as I join in with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color and the rest of the I Like Thursday crew. I haven’t much to share with you today, but a few fun things.

A Little Sewing happened last week. I had a little fun making this little pillow for a friend. I have forgotten the measurement, but I think it was approximately 7″ x 9″. I had to make it smaller than I had originally planned because I had a very limited amount of the red pom pom trim, and I really wanted to be able to use that for this pillow.

I did not use a pattern for this pillow. The design was inspired by a pillow this friend gave to me last year, and she had mentioned that she was tempted to keep it for herself. So I thought it would be fun to give her a pillow this year in a similar design, but with my spin on it. The trees are just improv triangles using solid scraps and a Faded Denim Grunge for the background fabric.

After adding fusible fleece to the front and back pillow pieces, I did a little quilting on the front piece. Then I basted the pom pom trim to the front piece before sewing the front and back of the pillow together. I stuffed it with some batting scraps, stitched it closed, and done!

I bought myself a little birthday gift this past weekend, finding this cute mug at one of my favorite shops in Duluth, MN.

It happened to be on the discount table, and I had to bring it home. My morning coffee seems just a bit more festive for the upcoming holidays.

Meanwhile, Wilbs has been cooking up some fun lately. I was busy making dinner one night and had left my spice cupboard open. I looked over to see this . . .

I make no excuses for my messy spice cabinet. It is ordered chaos in there – I know right where everything is – haha! Anyway, Wilbs clearly was in the mood to spice things up. He takes it to a higher level than me, however . . .

Yes, he was balancing up there, and yes, the door was wobbling back and forth. Just when I was preparing to get him down, he jumped down with ease and walked off. I have no idea what caught his eye up there, but he apparently needed a closer look!

As you are reading this, our weather is taking snow to a higher level today. It’s still too dark for me to get a photo, but I think we will have a white Christmas after all. Hubs is not at all excited about his morning commute, and I don’t blame him. I’m happy to be tucked in at home, and I think I’ll do some baking today. Sewing will have to wait for another day!

So just a few Thursday Thoughts from me to you. I hope you enjoy your day!

Adorable pillow, Wendy!! The pom-poms really make it festive, to go with your festive BD mug! As for your spice cupboard, my comment is, there are spaces available in that door!?! My spice cupboard is overflowing with not a bit of extra space. It must be nice to have room available in your spice cupboard!

What a festive mug. It must make you smile as you drink your morning coffee.
Isn’t Wilbur a bit old for these high jinx?!

Last but not least, the Christmas pillow you made is gorgeous and the red bobbles are perfect. It is such a thoughtful gift too.

Fabulous pillow and that trim just takes it over the top! Love the santa mug to bring a cheery face to your morning cuppa! Snow is not my friend, and I am glad to say last night we got rain. I would be happy if it waits a little longer before making another visit! Wilbur is too funny! I love the stretched cat over the two shelves – how they figure that out was always beyond me and the elegant dismount was something I never accomplished, even in my youth!

Love your little Santa mug, and a good deal is always worth bringing home. Wilbur was practicing his catrobatics.

Now that I have had a visit from Wilbs I am sure to have a good day! It is amazing how agile cats are. Love that cute pillow with the red poms. I’ll bet your coffee tastes a lot better in that mug. Happy Holidays!

happy birthday – I always like drinking my coffee out of a festive mug too. Oh my Wilbur sure likes to explore – I thought he was going to jump to the refrigerator while up there! Love the pillow

Your Santa mug is wonderful – a different look than many holiday mugs. I really like it.
Pom poms make everything cute. Your friend must be very happy with the pillow. I am impressed by the stuffing – the pillow looks so even and you used batting scraps? That is a great way to use them up.
