To Do Tuesday #14
Well, what a week it has been! How did it come to be time for my To Do Tuesday #14 post? Time flies when I’m having fun in my quilt room! I’m joining up with Roseanne & Sue over at Home Sewn By Us for their To Do Tuesday linky party. Let’s take a look at my week:
- Finish the Challenge Quilt – almost done
- Finish April Churn Dash blocks – Done!
- Finish April Monthly Color Challenge Block – Done!
- Finish March and April Deli Geese blocks – Nope.
My challenge quilt, due May 1st, is close to done. All that’s left is to quilt and bind it. I’m dragging my shorts on this one. I’m not very excited about what I’ve done, so I keep putting it off.
I’m keeping up with my own personal challenge to make three churn dash blocks each month. March blocks on the left; April on the right. The sizes of the blocks vary between 6″, 9″ and 12″ (finished), with a few 6″x 12″ thrown in.
As you may have seen in yesterday’s post, I’m caught up on my Monthly Color Challenge block.
My Deli Geese blocks are falling out of formation – haha! I keep putting them off because this is a BOM for my local quilt group, and since we aren’t meeting right now I don’t feel a rush in getting them done. Lame excuse, but it’s working for me. I’ll put them on my list for this week again, though, so I don’t forget them.
If you follow me on Instagram (@piecefulwendy), you’ve seen my mini plus blocks. I’m participating in the 100 Day Project, making one mini plus block each day for 100 days. I’m having fun with these blocks. The blocks take just minutes to make; the staging of the photos takes a bit more. I’m beginning to think about how I will construct the quilt once the 100 days are done.
I also organized one of my fabric drawers, which resulted in a baby quilt top (no picture yet, sorry) and this little zippy pouch, because who doesn’t need another zippy pouch? Plus I love the Maureen Cracknell fabric that I unearthed in that drawer!
And I finished my Improv Triangles, and I’ll be sharing that finish with you tomorrow. I love how it turned out, so I’m excited to show it to you.
So despite a few squirrels who dropped by and kept me company, I feel pretty good about my week. What’s up for this week?
- Finish Challenge quilt!
- Deli Geese blocks
- Bind vintage UFO
So that’s my To Do Tuesday #14 list for this week. There are a few other projects I could add, but I’ll keep it to these three for this week. I expect to get distracted by other projects (aka squirrels), but this list should help me stay on track.
How are you doing with your quarantine quilting? Do you get distracted, like me? What’s one thing you’re finding you enjoy that surprises you?
See you tomorrow!
Wendy

Somehow I missed your post yesterday, but your Color Challenge block is so pretty! I was reminded to make mine before the end of the month, too, by someone else’s post on Sunday! I love those plus blocks – it does look like you’re having fun with the photos. It’s actually amazing to me how fast the weeks are going, considering we’re really not doing much these days!

Oh, I love the colors in your churn dash blocks, and your staging of your plus blocks has been fantastic. I love your little figure holding up the block. He looks like a version of the Oscar…for quilting!

Nobody seems overly excited about what they have done for the challenge, but I bet they will be quite good. I look at mine and go, “meh.” I think it is probably just the odd energy go the times.

You are too funny! You will get there with the Deli blocks when you feel like it. Sometimes challenges are just that…so finish it and say “done, well done”! Not everything we do are our favorites, so chase the next squirrel. Have a good week.

Hi Wendy! You have a deadline of this FRIDAY and you’re dragging your feet?!! Girl. I am certain that it is fab – how could it not be? You picked wonderful fabrics and an idea. Put your big girl panties on and get ‘er done. I have been enjoying the heck out of your 100 days of blocks – oh, so cute and staged even cuter! Thanks for linking up this week. You had a great week and here’s to another great one. ~smile~ Roseanne

I love the use of the alphabitties for marking the day of the block! Genius, and great staging! I LOVE Maureen Cracknell’s fabrics so unearthing some in a drawer would be amazing–maybe that will inspire me to clean out some of my bins? 🙂 Your pouch looks great!

Hi Wendy!
You did great with your list … inspite of squirrels!!! Those squirrels can be pesky! And, in the end, the squirrels can be very worthwhile! As you have proven this week!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

You’ve definitely been busy. I love all your colorful blocks, and that pouch is wonderful! Anything with zippers totally scares me! I’m also enjoying the new photo that you are putting at the top of your recent blog posts. I somehow missed your Monthly Challenge post yesterday. Those two purple fabrics look so awesome together. You’re on fire, my friend!

Isn’t it odd that we do tend to get so very distracted during this quarantine. It seems like since we’re all in our houses to stay anyway that we’d take the opportunity to be super focused, there’s finally a time and chance for those big looming projects… it just isn’t working out that way though, is it.

Your mini blocks are darling! Are they hand stitched? Precious, just precious! Thank you for sharing!
