To Do Tuesday #21
To Do Tuesday #21 is a much quieter post than last week’s To Do post. I kept my list short, and it was a good thing. Even with only two things on my list, I only managed to get one done.
- Finish charity quilt top – Done!
- Finish a UFO from my stack – Nope.
I haven’t taken any photos of the charity quilt top yet, since I’m waiting for more information for a blog post. So I’ll post pictures at a later date. You’ll just have to trust me when I say I got it done.
So what have I been up to?
I’m still making little mini plus blocks, which you’ve seen if you follow me on Instagram (@piecefulwendy). Today will be #75, so I’m three-quarters of the way done. I’ve decided on a design for putting the blocks together, and I’ve started piecing the top already. No sneak peeks, though, sorry. I had to show this block because it’s a favorite. I had some fun with some left over Food Truck fabric from when I made these placemats. Plus, we had tacos for dinner, so it seemed appropriate to put this block in my post! Haha.
I got a bit distracted this week when this little book arrived in the mail. Notice that the star points are the leftover triangles from my June Monthly Color Challenge block. They were the inspiration for this little pinnie, which I thoroughly enjoyed making. The wobbly stripes are intentional – we’ll just go with that (wink). I’ll show you a few more I made soon.
I also made a little headway on my Storm at Sea quilt, which is a QAL with our local quilt group. I’m at a point where I need to make 32 square in a square blocks, which I do not enjoy making. I’ve made some progress, but set them aside for now. No photos of those yet either.
I also mentioned last week that I needed to do some sewing room organization, and I did get that done too. Not a lot of progress, but a little, and nothing photo worthy.
Lately I’ve enjoyed just going with the flow and working on whatever appeals each day. I do have a couple of things I need to get to work on, so here’s my list for this week:
- Begin work on The Endeavourers challenge quilt due August 1st
- Decide on project for the Christmas Then and Now Blog Hop
Of course, I’ll find other distractions along the way this week, too.
I’m linking up today once more with Roseanne & Sue at Home Sewn by Us. Are you joining us?

Short lists are good this time of year.

What a fun book! I love your little flag. Great use of those HST’s. I’m looking forward to seeing your plus blocks come together.

Going with the flow sounds like a plan to me! I love your little plus blocks – they’re going to make a fun quilt. And what a great pincushion, too! I have to admit I threw those bonus triangles from my color challenge block away… I looked at them and thought, “You should save these.” But in the trash they went. Good for you for finding a use for them!

If there’s another chapter for our Sistahood, it will be that we both don’t like sewing square in the square blocks- absolutely detest them!
Quilting is in my Blood
Your pinnie is fabulous! And I’m totally enjoying seeing your Plus blocks on Instagram.

Hi Wendy! I sure am loving your little blocks for 100 days – you are so creative in your photographing of them. I am looking forward SO much to seeing these become a quilt top. The little pinnie is just PERFECT. The wobbly stripes are also perfect – your flag is waving in the wind, right?!! I like the idea of working on whatever floats your boat. It seems like we need a blog hop about that, hey? Making something new, finish something old – whatever floats your boat. Thank you for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne

Not all weeks have to be productive, but more about having fun doing whatever you want;) I love that little flag pinnie!!!

Great job on 75 plus blocks! Try using the flatlay for your photos–it’s pretty easy to put together. I love that pin pals book. Cute flag pinnie!!! A lot going on there behind the scenes! Is that the charity quilt for the shop in SD? Let me know if I can quilt it for you.

I’m with you on realistic lists. I enjoy seeing your blocks each day on Instagram!

Ha–I was all prepared to ask what you were doing with the cute little plus blocks but I guess it will remain a secret. That’s ok–I like surprises too! That book is so going on my birthday list. Amazingly, I have NO pin cushions but I LOVE them. That needs to be fixed. (I’m not counting a VERY quickly-made plain one that I keep at my long arm!). Good luck this week!

Half done is better than none done! And you did other things. Here’s to a good week for whatever you need to get done. That pincushion is adorable.

Love your food truck block, very fun! Sounds like you got lots of behind the scenes stuff done last week. Hope you’ve been able to make good progress on this week’s to do list.
