To Do Tuesday #24
As I’m sitting here writing this To Do Tuesday #24, I’m wondering what in the world I did all week. Ever have weeks like that? Honestly, I thought I had been busy sewing, but I have nothing much to show for it.
Here’s what I had on tap for this past week:
- Keep working on the challenge quilt
- Bind quilts back from Connie
- Finish and mail pincushion
The Challenge Quilt
The challenge quilt is just that – a challenge. While I’m quite enjoying what I’m doing, I’m worried that it is not really qualifying as an art quilt. Hmm. What to do. Keep going? Start over – which I can’t do because I’ve used the inspiration piece already. Make a second challenge piece? Overthink it a bit more?? Here’s another little sneak peek:
Some curves, some big stitching, which I find very relaxing. I’ll finish this, whether I make a second challenge piece or not.
Quilt Binding
Nothing done on this yet, and my stack of quilts to be bound has now grown to three. None of them are rush projects (but Connie’s quilting is oh so pretty), so I’ll work on them when I have time
Pincushion Finish
By the time you are reading this post, I will be mailing the pincushion. I’m happy with how it turned out. I’ll post photos once it’s been received.
I did spend some time organizing my sewing room again this week. My thread shed was full to overflowing, so I reorganized all my thread on my thread holder.
Isn’t it pretty? It just makes me so happy to see all that color!
So what to work on this week? I need to mix it up a little, and add a few fun things in while I’m finishing the challenge quilt.
- Get Blog Hop quilt quilted and bound
- Piece together my mini plus blocks – yippee!
- Churn Dash blocks for July
- Deli Geese blocks for July
A To Do for You
Do you know Shelly from Prairie Moon Quilts? If not, I hope you take a pay her a visit. I enjoy her posts about quilting, living in the country, and Ranger the goat. Okay, she has more animals than Ranger, but he’s my favorite.
Anyway, Shelly is making a signature quilt, and she’s put out a call for signature blocks. If you’d like to make one for her, you can get the instructions for the blocks and all the details in this post. (If you look at the photo of the signature blocks in her post, you can see mine in the group.)
The blocks are quick and easy to do, and can be mailed in a regular envelope. So if you can help out, she’d appreciate it. Let her know Wendy sent ya – nothing in it for me, but I think she’d get a kick out of it!
Alrighty, that’s it for my To Do Tuesday #24 – thanks for reading all the way through my chattering. I’m linking up with Roseanne & Sue over at Home Sewn by Us, so feel free to check out the others who link up too!
Enjoy your day!
Wendy

Those threads do look pretty!

Some weeks are just like that here also, working like crazy and nothing really to show for it! I have a little thread envy now! Mine is scattered all over and I don’t have loads of Aurifil either. What are those green plants in your header photo today?

the threads are so beautiful all lined up aren’t they – add so much color to a room!!
Helen
Oh, how I love the sight of all the colorful spools lined up!

Another reason we’re Sistas—we like goats, we’re getting one for the RH! We may have to get two because I like naming animals-mine will be Sewvester Stallone, aka Rocky.

so much aurifil thread it’s like a store! I am throwing out an idea though… forgive me… air, light and dust damages thread so as pretty as it is it might need a cover. I keep my tremendous collection of threads in the old hot wheel double sided boxes under the cutting table out of the light… I’ve had thread go weak from being out in the elements… it sure is astoundingly pretty like that though and maybe it’s worth it to look at the collection.

That 100 days went faster than I would have guessed! I look forward to seeing your challenge quilt. I have gotten less sewing done these days but we made some progress on house decisions….little projects.

Hmm, I think I have some months like that! LOL. I’m a little jelly over all that thread. I generally stick to neutrals, and the occasional blue or red. LOL. If I could up my game a little and kick more quilts out faster, I think I’d probably allow myself to get more colors. Just afraid they’ll get old before I use ’em up I guess? Yes, I would find that big stitching relaxing–another “hope to do someday” item.

Love the sneak peek of your challenge quilt, Wendy! That big stitching is so pretty. And the picture of your thread holder is wonderful – a rainbow of thread – so enticing! Some weeks are definitely like what you’re describing – in fact, needing something to blog about is usually what makes me get at least some little thing done… 🤣

Hi Wendy! I will hop and pop right over to Shelly’s website. Ahh, list are made to be ignored some weeks, don’t you think?! That picture of all that pretty thread – it makes me want to run back and make something with loads of colors. Thanks for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

I like what I see on the sneak peek. At least the big quilting part of the challenge is enjoyable!

I like that yellow stitching on the blue fabric!
