To Do Tuesday 35
To Do Tuesday 35 – I’m back after a two-week break. I’ve had plenty of time to work on my to-do list since my last post, so let’s see how I’ve done:
- Make pincushion and get it mailed (to Norway) – Done!
- Finish test blocks – Done!
- Quilt another batik project – Not Done.
I completed some test blocks for Sherry at Powered by Quilting. You’ll be seeing the full quilts on her site sometime in the near future, but she said to it was okay to share the blocks. I just chose fabrics from my scraps to make these up.
So what else have I been up to? I have finished my challenge quilt, and you will get to see the full reveal of that on November 1st.
I’m also participating in the From the Heart Blog Hop hosted by Just Let Me Quilt. My little project is done, and I’m looking forward to showing it to you on October 28th.
While I’m waiting to show those two projects to you, I pieced a few International Sisters. This pattern is a tutorial from Sew Preeti Quilts. These 10.5″ blocks are very quick and easy to make.
These pretty blocks are off to join a few others, and you will see them all together at a future date.
The project that is taking up most – no, all – of my time the last few days is this one:
I have begun the construction of my Gypsy Wife quilt. This is just Sections 1 and 2 – there are 10. The instructions for putting the quilt together are really nothing but black/white line drawings of the sections. It’s a bit like piecing a puzzle. I have already had several meaningful conversations with my seam ripper. Despite that, I am liking it so far. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
So – my to do for this week is just to work on my Gypsy Wife and write some posts. That should keep me plenty busy.
I’m linking up To Do Tuesday 35 with Roseanne and Sue over at Home Sewn by Us. I hope you stop by and see the others who join in on this linky party. It’s a fun one!
What are you working on this week?
Wendy

Love your Sisters blocks and the progress on your Gw quilt. I’m intrigued with the test blocks and can’t wait to see how they are used! Only 7 days to your Hop project and finally the reveal of your challenge quilt in 10 days. Doing a happy dance for all that you have done

You have been busy, I like how your gypsy wife is coming along. I’ve had too many talks with my seam ripper on way too many occasions.
Quilting is in my Blood
I like your test blocks for Sherry, but I’m totally intrigued with your Gypsy Wife project. It looks great and I can’t wait to hear more about it. Have a great day, Mary.

Love your International Sisters blocks and your Gypsy Wife! I bought Jen Kingwell’s Boho Heart pattern and think it will be my 2021 project. I haven’t made any of her pattern before but I’ve read a lot from quilters who have.

What pretty and colorful blocks! I really like the international sisters. I might need to save that link. When I posted my recent trashy blocks on Facebook, a few people mentioned Gypsy Wife. I hadn’t seen it before, and so I Googled it. Great scrap buster quilt. I like your bright colors.

I have the Gypsy Wife pattern but never made it or another one by J Kingwell, though I wanted to and now don’t know.

I like the test blocks you’ve been making – any plans for them? How great that you’re also making some sisters blocks, too! Aren’t they fun? Picking the fabric for their dresses and headresses is the best part, I think! The Gypsy Wife pattern is always so fascinating to me – I’ll enjoy seeing yours come together.

Fun to see your GW start to come together! And I really like the double broken dishes block you made for Sherry. Is that her original design? I’ve never seen it before! I also like how you added the “To Do” text to your photo. What program do you use for that?
Sherrie
Hi,
Love the Gypsy Wife…so pretty. Have a great day!

Lots of goodies here! Can’t wait to see the sisters in person. It will be fun to see all the varieties of fabrics.

You’ve been busy. I love the sample blocks and look forward to seeing how Sherri’s quilts utilized these. The Gypsy Wife Quilt will be so pretty when it is done. Keep teasing us with these sections. And where was the Wilbs today?
Cheree Hull
Your test blocks look great–nice and crisp! You’ve gotten a lot done. And yeah, where’s Wilbs??

You have been really busy Wendy! I love all of the colors in your Gypsy Wife quilt, it looks wonderful and is coming along great. I also love those International sisters, I think I am going to have to make some of them. I have more fabric than I know what to do with, always looking for cute patterns. Thanks for sharing all of you ideas! I love reading all of your blogs, even though I don’t usually post comments all the time. I love reading about all that you do!
