To Do Tuesday 40
Yep, it’s time for my To Do Tuesday 40 post, where I join up with Roseanne and Sue from Home Sewn By Us, who host this weekly linky party. Usually these posts keep me on track each week, so I actually get a few things finished on my list. This week was not one of those. So let’s take a look at my list from last week:
- Continue to catch up on Blocks of the Month
- Blog Hop project for early December
- Union Square blocks
My blog hop project is ready for the Virtual Cookie Exchange, but I need to get photos and a post written. That will be my priority this week, along with baking some goodies (if I can decide on a recipe). Watch for my post on December 2nd.
I pulled the Union Square blocks out the other day, but there was no mojo to work on them, so back in the bin they went. I may revisit them this coming week or two.
So, did I do anything? Yes, I did. I went off-list once again.
This is one of the latest patterns released by Noodlehead – The Pepin Tote. The finished size of the tote is 13.5″ wide x 12″ tall x 4″ deep. This tote is quite easy to make. I had the body of it done in an afternoon, and added the leather handles the next day. The pattern actually calls for the handles (leather or web) to be sewn in. I decided to add them last with rivets.
The bag has a deep front pocket, handy for a notebook, umbrella, or whatever you may need to grab quickly. The pattern gives several options in addition to the pockets – a recessed zipper or a magnetic clasp; leather handles or web handles.
There is a nice roomy interior, with pockets on one side that you customize to your liking.
All the fabrics came from my stash. The outer fabric is a Nate Burkis canvas I picked up at JoAnn Fabrics in the remnant bin. A fabric with an abstract or non-directional design is best. The canvas is stabilized with Pellon SF101. I used my walking foot for most of the construction without any problems.
I will be making more of these. I think they will make great gifts! A girl can never have too many bags, right??
What’s Up This Week?
There will be lots of resting here this week. I’ll be doing some sewing too, Other than celebrating Thanksgiving, my main focus this week will be the blog hop.
Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends. Do take care, everyone. Be safe, be wise, be kind.

Going “Off-list”… ha ha ha Love that! Honest… have you ever gone “off list” then put it on your list just so it could be checked off? Hmm?
How’s Wilbs going to do with the Christmas decorations? We put ours out yesterday. Our silly Buff is just beside himself with glee. Oh dear, how is this going to go…

Good thing there are no quilt police so we can go chase those squirrels;) Cute bag, great fabric for it. Was it hard attaching the handle, I have never used rivets.

Such a cute tote, and what a fun fabric!

that’s a nice bag with riveted leather handles. I’ve done metal eyelets but never rivets they look very nice. We woke to 4″ of snow, so it’s likely coming your way soon…

Good morning, Wendy! That bag is great. It’s a handy size with room for oodles of fun stuff. I love the fabrics you used, and the leather straps makes it look snazzy and classy. Wilbur looks nice and comfy all curled up and sleeping. You guys have been keeping things exciting for him! Happy Happy Thanksgiving, my friend. We’re going to start decorating the house for Christmas but maybe some sewing will happen, too. Thanks for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

Wonderful tote. I love the fabric. I understand about going off the reservation when it comes to sewing. Makes it more fun. The sewing mojo has been in hiding this week. Maybe it’s napping with Wilbs (LOL)! Have a great Thanksgiving!

I love the Noodlehead bag….almost exactly what I am looking for. I will have to keep it in mind if I decide to make rather than buy a new bag. You will get to the other things when you feel like it….sewing should be fun and not a burden.

Love the tote and especially the fabric. Your idea to use rivets for strap installation is great and a real time saver, I’m sure.

Your new bag is just great! Definitely worth spending time on this week. I’m ready for a new tote, so I’ll have to go check out that pattern. Looking forward to the blog hop next week, too!

Wendy that squirrel did have a perfect project for you to be inspired to go off list. The Noodlehead bag is sweet and I really like the leather straps! Wilbs has the right idea for this week. Relax, stay well and have a great Thanksgiving week!

Your tote is soooo sophisticated! It looks like a designer bag that would sell for $100. Great job! Has Wilbur been inside it yet?

That bag is gorgeous! Love the fabric. I was in Joann’s two days ago and never thought to check the remnants but I did manage to get 2 end-of-bolts with less than a yard increments free, so I was happy.
Enjoy your rest, give Wilbur a pat and a scratch. Can’t wait to see your cookie post!
