To Do Tuesday 44
For my To Do Tuesday 44 post today, I thought I’d show you a little proof that we actually did get a tree and got it decorated just in time for Christmas. It was a chilly day we went to the tree farm; we picked out this tree in about 15 minutes flat, then scampered back into the car.
What was on my list from last week?
- Keep working on the Christmas quilt
- Start constructing my challenge quilt (due February 1st)
- Finish playing with the birthday fabric
The Christmas quilt is done except for the binding. I’m not as happy with it as I hoped I’d be, but I think it will be well received anyway. It was a fun experiment. I’ll show it to you after it’s been gifted.
The challenge quilt is underway. I’m back in my improv playground, and I have the idea in my head, so we’ll see how it turns out.
The Marcia Derse fabric has been cut up, pieced and the top is being constructed. I’ve been so absorbed in it, I haven’t even taken a photo. So more on that after the holidays.
Meanwhile, I made a couple of mug cosies. You can see my post about that right here.
And yesterday, I shared the last of my batik scrap projects. You can see that post right here.
I’m not sure whether I’ll be sewing much over Christmas and New Year’s. If I do, I hope to just play a bit and have some fun. When it’s time to get serious again, I’ll be working on:
- Stay at Home Round Robin Project – I’ll be joining host Quilting with Gail and a few other quilting friends for this fun quilt along. Hope you will join us!
- Finish Challenge Quilt – due February 1st
I’ll be posting one more time this week on Thursday, and then I will be on break until January 1, 2021.
I hope you stop back on Thursday! Thanks for reading my To Do Tuesday 44 post – I’m linking up today with Roseanne and Sue over at Home Sewn by Us. I do hope you pop over and see the others who are linking up today!

Your tree looks beautiful!

I like your mug cozie, I have made a couple larger like that but for small tea pots I can see how it would be good for the mugs. – pretty tree! I bet it smells nice

Love your tree – I’m a big fan of blue lights. Your mug cozy is so cute. Enjoy your week!

Lovely – Seems like you are heading into the holidays with a good plan for taking a break! We all need to do that now and then. Still eyeing the mug cozy and want to get one (or two) made up for me. I do love coffee as hot as possible. Happy Holidays Wendy.

Lovely tree! We haven’t had a real one in forever. I love em but I HATE to wrap lights (because I’m the person who has to make sure every stem has a light and that can be problematic, not to mention, take ALL. DAY. LONG!). I’m with you on taking a break but I’m plugging away a bit longer yet. No pressure tho. Just whenever I feel it. Enjoy your hot drinks under that cozy! If my mom were alive, I’d make her one because her coffee never stayed hot long enough and off to the microwave she’d go all day long, and then she’d forget about it and we’d always open it to find a coffee cup in there! (happy memories! LOL) Merry Christmas!

I have that same fabric in green that you used for your mug cozie, I made curtains and pillow shams. Your tree is gorgeous and I love your scrap project. Merry Christmas

Can’t wait to see the secret sewing! I am intrigued by Gail’s group and what you guys will come up with! The sewing time is odd over the next few days, which either makes it easier or harder to get things done. I hope it is the later. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Your tree is beautiful, Wendy, and I had to zoom in to see what was hanging above the doorway (or maybe it’s a window?) there – looks so cute! Have a wonderful time working on whatever you want in the next weeks, and we’ll enjoy seeing what that turns out to be.

Your tree is beautiful as is the line of mittens and stockings along the curtain. I understand the need to kick back, relax, enjoy family, read etc. without guilt. And if you throw some sewing in it will be part of the fun. Have a very Merry Christmas.

What a pretty tree. You had me at the turquoise lights! Are the mittens and stockings behind the tree made from felt? They sure are cute. Hope you have a relaxing time with your family and you can all taste and enjoy good holiday food! Take care, Mary.

Getting the tree up is no easy task, so congrats on getting it spruced up and all pretty for the holiday. Congrats on all the progress on the to do list. Good luck with your stitching plans before the holiday. Enjoy your blogging break. Have a very Merry Christmas.

Wendy it looks like you are ready for Christmas with that beautiful tree and all the memories the fragrance brings! Such a great list of finishes and a manageable list of goals! ⛄️

Hi Wendy! Nice tree and I can just picture y’all scampering to the car to get warm. The cozy is for your daughter, correct? I’m curious how she likes it for keeping her tea nice and warm? The fabric goes perfectly with the mug! {{Hugs}} a bunch for you. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

I like the idea of playing in the studio for the next week or so. I have a few quilts I have to get finished so I’ll be playing and working on “required” projects!
