To Do Tuesday 58

Ok, I’ll confess that you won’t see too much in the way of stitching in this To Do Tuesday 58 post, but I thought I’d catch you up a bit and get my plans laid out for the coming week.

That was my view (in the above photo) for much of the weekend before last. Our casa rental (which was reserved in 2020 for a conference BigJ was planning to attend) had been pushed back enough times that we needed to either use it or lose it. Having four adults in our home, we thought it would be a good break. So a roadtrip happened.

That long drive did offer up some gorgeous views, however. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive through the Kit Carson National Forest on a beautifully sunny day with a fairly chilly wind.

When we reached the casa, this little fellow greeted us.

We were delighted with the casa. It was such a nice place!

The casa is located close to several restaurants and museums, so we did quite a bit of walking. It was nice to pick up our food and enjoy it on our patio. The weather was sunny but the wind was chilly. We still managed to enjoy the sunshine, though!

Other times we did a lot of this.

One of the highlights of the week was meeting Mary, who blogs at Quilting is in My Blood. Mary and I have chatted back and forth frequently about quilting, Sashiko, and our cats. It was such fun to meet her in person. We kept it simple and had lunch on our patio.

That’s Mary on the left, and me on the right. And look at the cute little Sashiko mini quilt she made me!

Mary knows my love of orange, and I’m completely smitten with this little piece!

I made Mary a little something too, but completely forgot to take a photo. You can see it on Mary’s blog right here. While you’re there, take a look at some of her other work – she makes some beautiful quilts and Sashiko!

Since we’ve returned home, I’ve tried to get something stitched up to show you today, but my sewjo appears to have been left on one of those mountain peaks. While I’m waiting for it to get back here, here’s what I’m going to try to accomplish this week.

I’m pretty sure I have a quilting plan for this panel now, so I’ll get it basted and (hopefully) started this week.

As long as I’ll be quilting, my other to do for the week is to get one more UFO basted and quilted. That should keep me busy this week while I wait for my sewjo to return.

Thanks for sticking with my ramblings in this To Do Tuesday 58 post! I sure appreciate that you take the time to read my posts!

Sounds like you had a great time away!!! I love the little pouch you made Mary! And how thoughtful of you to include Sashiko thread and pins!!! And the little piece she made you is darling. Hopefully Wilbs is not to jealous!
Have no fear, your quilting mo-jo will return the minute you see something you just HAVE to make! 🙂

What a lovely break you had; beautiful scenery, a lovely vacation home, sashiko (orange no less) and visiting a quilty friend. Life is good isn’t it? 😉

What a beautiful place to spend a little down time! I admit that I miss being IN the mountains and forest, instead of sort of next to them. And how great that you got to meet a quilty friend in person 🙂

Hi Wendy! How wonderful that you got to do a bit of a road trip AND meet Mary at the same time. The whole thing sounds like so much fun. Love the little orange Sashiko piece – it is just perfect for you. I hope Wilbs survived without you for the week! HAHA! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Super jealous of all of this. The casa, the vacay, the road trip, meeting a fellow blogger friend, the scenery, all of it! Good for you guys! And the little cat mini is adorable!

We all need a break sometime and getting to travel a little, see a different place, chill out and meet in person with a fellow blogger all sound like fun. Hope your week goes well.

It was so fun meeting you and having lunch on the patio. My pouch is just wonderful, and I tried out those cute button pins a couple days ago, and they have a nice, secure feel to them. I’m looking forward to seeing progress on your panel project.
