To Do Tuesday #6

It’s To Do Tuesday #6 today, and I’m joining Roseanne and Sue of Home Sewn by Us for their To Do Tuesday linky party. If you are looking for some motivation to keep moving your projects forward, this is a fun option. Each week post your goals for the week, then check in the following week with a review. You can jump in any time.

I’ve had more days to stay in and sew this week, and I’ve gotten quite a bit done. It wasn’t so much snow that made me stay in as bitterly cold temps. Just an hour to the east of us the temps reached -24. That’s actual temp, not windchill. So, I tucked in and enjoyed more time with my sewing machine.

Last Week’s List

Deli Geese Presentation – Due to the cold weather, we postponed our quilt group meeting until this Thursday, so I’ll get the presentation done this week.

Awesome Ocean SAL – I’m all caught up; in fact, I have the quilt top finished! I can’t show it to you yet, but it really turned out cute. You can see some of my blocks here and here.

February Churn Dash Blocks – Done! I decided to go with the color pink for February.

The largest block is 12″ (finished), the light pink is 9″ (finished) and the rectangular block is 6″ x 12″(finished). I’ll continue to make the varying sizes each month. So far, the smallest I’ve made is 6″, but I may make a few smaller than that for fun.

What Up This Week?

Improv Triangles – This is a sew along happening on Instagram, hosted by Nicholas Ball of Quilts from the Attic. His approach to making these little triangle blocks is very simple and appealing.

This is the start of my blocks, put up on my little design wall in no particular order. After I’ve made a few more, I’ll arrange and rearrange, then begin sewing them together. If you want to give this a try, or just see how they are made, go to @quiltsfromtheattic on Instagram and watch his stories. He goes through the steps there. I’ll continue to work on these this week.

Fractured Triangles – I’ve washed the flannel backing for this quilt, so it’s time to get it basted and ready for quilting.

Squiggles Quilt – the quilting is done on this UFO, and all I need to do is bind it.

That’s it for my To Do Tuesday #6. What are you working on this week?

Wendy

Yay! You finished your list, what you could do anyway, and you exceeded expectations with the Ocean SAL. I’m not doing the improv triangles, although I wish I was, so I ordered the book, it looks good and has great reviews. I did as planned last week, this week is awkward as I’m getting ready for a new kitchen to be fitted next week, and that means getting husband and dogs organised for a two week stay away at our holiday home. The good news is I will be home alone for two weeks and will be camping out in my sewing room while the fitters do their job. It’s as good as a holiday 🙃

great blocks! I wouldn’t want to go out in those temperatures either and would just want to stay in the house where I image it was much warmer. I would have been baking or something too – something about cold weather always has me making bread or something to have the oven on too to help keep the house warm

You have such fun variations of the churn dash blocks. I especially like the elongated version. And that pink really pops against the solid blue background. Is it a Kona solid? And I love, love, love your Improv Triangles. I saw posts recently on IG about this sew-along with @quiltsfromtheattic, and I was SO tempted to join in. Are all your fabrics grunge? I love grunge fabrics and have an entire bin devoted to them! Have a great day, Mary.

Oh, love the churn dash and the triangles. Let me know next time one of those is running; I’ll check this one out in case I can be a late follower, but I really want to try this more…but chicken. Can’t wait to see the quilt top, your fabric choices have been terrific!

I really like those improv triangles. Is that Grunge I spy as the background? Wow on that -24 temp! There’s something about cold weather that makes sewing even more fun. We worked in the yard yesterday (76 degrees) but much cooler weather and rain start tonight. I feel obligated to get the garden ready during warm weather, so I’m looking forward to an excuse to get back to the sewing room!

Hi Wendy! Ooh-la-la, look at all of those triangles. They all look like so much fun. Where oh where are they going to end up?? LOVE them and I’ll try to remember to check out IG. AND, your churn dash blocks are so fun, too. Just the perfect color for February. Thanks for linking up my friend. I truly do appreciate it greatly. ~smile~ Roseanne

Love those churn dashes in different sizes and shapes, Wendy! They’re going to make a fun quilt. And the triangles – so tempting! I’ve been following that hashtag on Instagram, and I love what I’m seeing!

Loving your improv triangles. I thought about trying it but I guess I will just work on my runners for now;) The churn dashes are coming along nicely.
