To Do Tuesday 61
I have some progress to show you in this To Do Tuesday 61 post. I’m linking up with Texas Quilt Gal and the rest of my quilting friends who join in this linky party each week.
Here are the highlights of what I accomplished last week:
Hole In The Day
By the time you are reading this post, Hole In The Day will be finished. All that’s left is the hand sewing step of the binding. This little quilt, measuring 14″ x 26″, was requested by BigJ, who will be giving it as a gift. The background fabric is a beautiful gradient from Colorways by Vicki. The green fabric is Grunge in Rifle. The trees are done in a solid navy blue that was in my stash. I hand sketched the trees, then traced them onto SoftFuse, then stitched them down by raw edge applique. The constellation Pleiades (Hole In the Day) is hand stitched using Aurifil floss in white (#2021). I kept the quilting simple, using wavy lines in blue for the sky, and vertical straight line stitching in the green with green thread. The binding was tricky and didn’t quite turn out as I wanted but I’m satisfied with it. This was a challenging, yet fun, project.
Wonky Stars Runner
This is the last of the church projects, a wonky star runner that will hang on the wall of one of the classrooms. I had so much fun with this. The background fabric and white star fabric both glow in the dark. You’ll have to trust me on this, because I forgot to try taking a photo in the dark. The black background fabric is Galactic by Michael Miller. The white star fabric is Fairy Frost by Michael Miller. The gray and peach stars, as well as the backing fabric are all scraps from my stash. The finished runner measures 14.5″ x 42″.
Two and Four QAL
I’m all caught up on this QAL hosted by Katy Quilts and Wedding Dress Blue. There are more colors in this quilt than brown, red and gold – stacked underneath are also blue, teal, purples and a few black fabrics. I’m using my Kim Diehl/Jo Morton fabrics along with other reproduction fabrics from my stash.
So what’s on my list for this week?
Start
Challenge Quilt – this is due Nov. 1st; still waiting for inspiration
Finish
- QIS Monochrome Challenge
- Bind Plus Playtime, Beothuk, and 2020 MCC

And that’s my To Do Tuesday 61 post for this week. I’m pleased with the progress I made this past week. We’ll see how well I do with my projects this week.
How was your week?

Oh, oh, oh I love your constellation mini! What effective use of that gradient dyed fabric – it enhances the stars all the more.

I like how you did the binding for this one. It expands the picture. Sometimes I fold my binding to the back to avoid framing the piece. You are so busy with ideas. Happy sewing.

Hole in the Day is really neat, Wendy! That sky fabric is really perfect for the effect. I like how your binding suggests that the scene doesn’t really stop there – more mountains are there just out of sight. You’ve been busy!

Good morning! I just LOVE the addition of Pleiades to your wall hanging. That definitely means it is sunset – no one goes star gazing at sunrise! How cool that the wonky stars are glow-in-the-dark!! Finally, your Two by Four pieces look so pretty together. I can’t wait to see it all come together! Happy Tuesday, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

Some beautiful projects. Love the “Hole in the Day” quilt and think BigJ’s friend will too. The star table runner is gorgeous I would be interesting to find out if you can actually photograph it and what shows. The two and found QAL looks interesting. I will be keeping an eye out for more of it. Have a great day.

That gradient fabric for Hole in the Sky – amazing! The mini quilt is gorgeous. I want to know who he’s giving it to – lol! How fun that the classroom project was given to you and that you an be so creative with it. Love the shot of your pretty toe too.
I’m feeling weird this week because my sewing machine is at the shop. 😀
Thanks for linking up with To Do Tuesday!

Lovely projects! I thought the first one was a watercolor! It’s just wonderful.

I love both projects. I will have to try another silhouette quilt and I will also try and do a wonky star runner as a table runner – not sure when! I have lots of things that need completing and lots of others waiting to be started and completed 🙂

Well I had written a comment earlier today and then the internet cut out and it didn’t post! I love your Hole In the Day mini, did you dream it up or did Big J? And how fun to have another of your pieces in your church, very fun!
Quilting is in my Blood
Hole in the Day is really cool. And that wonky star runner is awesome. Maybe you can take a photo of it at church someday with the lights out! That would be fun to see.

Oh my gosh – I knew I was going to love Hole in the Day and you did not disappoint me!!! It is stunning. The choice of the hand dyed fabrics, the trees and the constellation – all just perfect together. So beautiful Wendy!!!

That mini turned out beautifully and so did your wonky stars. Hopefully you’ve made good progress on this week’s To Do list.

Oh goodness, look at you go! Even matching up the binding–I bet it was tricky and it’s gonna look super! Yay–your runner is done too! (Nice toe photo-bomb!). AND you’re keeping up on the QAL. Wowsers, woman! Can’t wait to see that one evolve! I keep seeing Kim Diehl quilts and fabrics that I’m dying to work with. (Soon, my lovelies. Soon!)
