To Do Tuesday 69
This To Do Tuesday 69 post is coming in late today. I haven’t been doing much in the quilt room lately, just some small Christmas projects that I can’t show, or have already shown. Meanwhile, I’ve been prepping the house for Christmas, slowly getting decorations out, although putting up much less. As I mentioned in last Thursday’s post, the tree is up and decorated. It is the largest tree I think we’ve had. I promised a photo, so here it is.
The tree occupies the space that was once taken up by our antique upright grand piano, which is now getting a new look, being renovated into a desk for my quilt room. Once the tree comes down, I think I need a quilt on that wall, and we’ll add a table to that space.
I’m joining in with Texas Quilt Gal and the others who are linking up their To Do Tuesday posts today. I’m sure there will be plenty of holiday sewing and inspiration happening on the posts, so I hope you find some time to check them out.
Along with getting Christmas decor up, I’ve been slowly getting the house cleaned and ready for guests the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Slowly is the key word – I’ve been dragging my feet on a lot of it, so that will be added to the to do list for this week. In my last To Do Tuesday post, I had these two things on my list:
- Bind the Coreopsis quilt – DONE
- Finish the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge quilt top – Nope
The Christmas Coreopsis quilt is completely finished and hanging in my living room.
If you missed my post about this quilt, you can read about it here.
I haven’t been doing much Christmas baking yet, that’s coming later this week. I don’t bake as much as I used to, so I’ll make just a few cookies. My daughter and I are going to try making macaroons, so that should be fun.
In the evenings, I’ve been doing a lot of cross-stitching on this piece.
This is the Kaleidoscope pattern by Lori Holt. I’m auditioning the dark thread, and will be taking that up – it’s too dark, so I need to find something to replace it. I’m hoping I can find something I have on hand, rather than have to go to the store.
My to do list for this week isn’t too quilty. I’ll see if I can sneak in some sewing, but I have plenty other things to keep my busy.
- Housecleaning
- Bake Christmas goodies
- Enjoy the holidays with family
Because I have family staying with me next week, I don’t know if I’ll have time to post – or anything to post about. So with this To Do Tuesday 69 post, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Wendy, your list looks a lot like mine. I’ll add addressing a few more Christmas Cards today. Hopefully I’ll embroidery something on a jacket for my son. I wanted to add a picture of my Christmas Tree. How can that be done?
Merry Christmas!

Your tree is just beautiful, Wendy! And turning the piano into a desk – I’m intrigued by that. Looking forward to seeing it. Enjoy your family/company (getting ready for them is never the fun part!), macaroon making, and cross-stitch, too. That is a really pretty design!

Wendy your tree is the most beautiful one I’ve seen this year! I’m looking forward to seeing the piano refurbish. I think your sewing room is going to be a sewing haven when you finish the redo. Your crossstitch looks pretty and I’m trying hard to resist another handcraft after seeing it. Enjoy the rest of your holiday preparations. Good luck with the macarons. 🎄

The tree is lovely! I think you are right about a quilt and table in the corner…another fun decorating challenge. Good luck with your things this week, I may sew tomorrow, or just pack. I am mostly done except for a few cards. Then I am off for a few days with our son to see my brothers and aunt, leaving Jonathan with Percy. I am praying we all get through it with no omicron. Plan on testing at least when I return. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Love your tree, and yes you will need a quilt on that wall. Coreopsis looks so pretty hanging over that gorgeous Nativity. Did I tell you I purchased the pattern? I hope you can get that pesky house cleaning done so you can enjoy the season – the cleaning is something I always drag my feet on too. What’s on the menu besides macaroons? Have a Merry Christmas with your family and Wilbs. 🙂
Thanks for linking to To Do Tuesday!
Quilting is in my Blood
Your Christmas tree and Christmas quilt are so pretty. And I love your cross stitch project. I’m thinking of doing a little cross stitch this year. It’s been close to 40 years since I last cross stitched. And happy belated birthday my friend.

The cross stitch is beautiful! Did you figure out the perfect color? I love love love your quilt hanging there–looks absolutely perfect! Also like the Willow (I think that’s it?) Nativity set. Hubs got me a small set of Jesus, Mary and Joseph all in one piece but I would love to get the entire Nativity maybe someday? So pretty!

You have inspired me with your beautiful cross stitch, Wendy. Have been thinking about joining a cross stitch SAL next year and seeing your work has convinced me to take the plunge. Thank you.
Your Christmas coreopsis is spectacular.
Strength with the house cleaning. I have just finished my Christmas baking and can now sit and stitch. Yay!
Wishing you a most merry Christmas
