To Do Tuesday
I’m here with another To Do Tuesday post, happily joining up with Texas Quilt Gal for her To Do Tuesday linky party. Each week we share our goals accomplished during the week and set goals for the next. I just looked at my list from last week – that should give you a good idea at how well I did at staying on task! Here’s my list from last week:
- Choose my center block for the SAHRR 2023 – not quite yet, but close!
- Prep a quilt backing – Oh yeah, I should do that . .
- Plan my Endeavourers challenge art quilt – all planned in my head
- Firm Foundation blocks??? – Umm. No.
It was a happy little squirrel party at Pieceful Thoughts last week. You saw some of those squirrel’s in Monday’s post, and today I’ll show you one more. There have been several “drop everything and make it” moments this week!
A friend from church sent me an email and wanted to know if I could sew up a little pillow for some Christmas decor in one of the rooms. I just happened to have another Passport to Quilting pattern that would work, so I got to work on it. The background fabric is Grunge Fog, and the trees and trunks are from my scrap bins.
The tree pattern is a paper-pieced pattern from The Seasoned Homemaker, and you can find the pattern here. It doesn’t take long at all to stitch them up! I added a little border in a red buffalo plaid/snowflake print. I did straight stitch quilting following the diagonal lines of the trees.
For this pillow, I applied fusible fleece to the pillow top and also to the back to give it a nice firmness. Then I stitched the top and back together leaving an opening for the filling. It was a quick easy way to make a decorative little pillow. I marked the lines with a Hera marker (you can faintly see a line I marked incorrectly if you look closely). The finished pillow is 11-1/2″ x 16-1/2″.
I’m going to stick with that list from above for my To Do Tuesday list this week, and see if I can make some progress on it. However, I may happily play with squirrels once again – who knows?

Hi Wendy…I love your pillow! I’m using the same pattern from Seasoned Homemaker for a table runner — you’ve inspired me to make a matching pillow!

What a cute little pillow! That Grunge is the perfect background. Well, when isn’t Grunge perfect! Thank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesday!

You have indeed had some really fun squirrels to play with!
Quilting is in my Blood
That Christmas pine tree pillow turned out so cute. We ARE on the same wavelength as far as fabrics for trees!

Love this! Two of my favorite things- pillows and trees! That red border is the perfect accent.

That turned out cute. I need to put a cover on a small pillow. I’m dragging my feet getting to it.

pretty tree pillow!

What a sweet pillow. Quilting following the lines of the trees worked out perfect, and I bet that Hera marker line will fade away quickly when the pillow is used. 🙂

Love the pillow! I don’t like paper piecing, but this looks like a sweet little project…versatile too! 🙂

A cute pillow. It looks like it was a quick finish. Couldn’t see the Hera marker line. Do love the quilting.

Your Christmas tree pillow is lovely and you made it sound so easy! Thank you for sharing not only your project, but your process as well! 🙂

There’s always time to play with squirrels, right?! The tree pillow is just great – I would not have thought to use fusible fleece to back the front and back, but now I’ll keep that in mind. Good luck with this week’s list!

I joined in to the Passport to Quilting Holiday Edition but have not made any of the patterns up yet. Your’s are looking so good. Fun squirrels LOL

What a wonderful pillow! Some weeks we just don’t get much done….but fun things…and that is good too!

Squirrels that sneak in are the best. I think they keep our quilting spirit alive. I love the pillow that resulted, its going to brighten up the space for sure.

Hi Wendy! I read the first item on your list suggestion and already I’m saying, oh yeah. I have to do that – pick my center for the SAHRR. Geez. Prep a backing – yeah, I have to do that, too. I should do both of them . . . I love, love, LOVE the little tree pillow. That red skinny border was a brilliant choice. Now I want to make one of those right this very minute. Darn it! (I’m whispering ENABLER.) It is cute, cute, CUTE. I have a bench in my entryway that needs a pillow . . . the crosshatch was also another brilliant choice. What else would make those trees pop without the quilting overtaking them?! Your squirrels have been had to resist, I would agree. Keep up the enabling work, my friend. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Your little pillow is perfect and I’m sure your friend will love it. So much fun to see what your squirrels are convincing you “to do”. 😉

You definitely had some fun squirrels invade the sewing room this week. I really like those trees, very fun. Good luck with your list this week. If you get squirreled again this week, the list will be there next week.

Super cute pillow and the Grunge background is perfect for it! Just like a snow with a little shade or texture here and there. My plan is to sew lots of pillows like this (if I ever get this last quilt done!).

A delightful piece — perfect for a Christmas pillow.

Ins’t it fun just play with a new squirrel? Love the 3 tree pillow, Wendy. Now I have a problem… LOL
