Tuesday Tidbits

I have some Tuesday Tidbits to share with you today. I’m joining in with Texas Quilt Gal for her To Do Tuesday linky party, where we share our progress each week on our to do lists.

Before I get into my past week, I just want to say thank you for all of you who read my post yesterday and commented. My blog was having some major server issues over the weekend, and I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I saw that my post successfully went live. I know there may be some of you who weren’t able to access my post at times, much less leave a comment. (During the course of the weekend, I received over 30 alerts that my site was down!!) If that was the case for you, I sincerely apologize. Now that the issue has been fixed (fingers crossed), please read this post and leave a comment to be included in the giveaway. In that post, I’m sharing my version of Topsy Turvy, seen here, a new pattern release by Sew Preeti Quilts

Okay, getting back to the Tuesday tidbits. Here is my list from last week.

  • Finish cutting out Firm Foundation blocks – nothing done
  • Pattern Test – a new one! – progress!
  • Start Challenge Quilt – still pondering

I’m using the excuse of still getting settled in my new sewing space for not getting much done, and I did get. a little distracted while trying to organize. I found these bold batiks in a bundle I won from Emily of The Darling Dogwood, and I had to drop everything and make something. More on that in another post.

Also, over the weekend BigJ and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. It’s hard to believe 35 years have gone by, but they’ve been good years with many grand adventures. BigJ and I  are hopeless when it comes to selfies, so instead you can see the delicious breakfast I enjoyed this morning – coffee and a chocolate croissant – yum!

We snuck away for a relaxing backroads drive, stayed overnight in a hotel, and then back home. It was lovely and low key, just like we like it.

What’s up for this week?

  • Maybe start on cutting the Firm Foundation blocks
  • Write Blog Hop post
  • Sew Day with friends!
  • Finish the batik project

Thanks for stopping by to read my Tuesday Tidbits. I sure appreciate each one of you who stop by each week! What are you working on this week? Maybe you will inspire me!

Glad you enjoyed your anniversary your way! Sounds like the perfect celebration to me! You say you haven’t been productive, but by all appearances, you’re accomplishing much. Slow and easy wins the race! I’ve often thought the same, but then I do a quick review, and I realize how much actually did get done. You make me want to bring out my bag if batiks for my next play date in my sewing space.

happy anniversary – there are those that can take great selfies and then those of us that don’t – totally get it! hope the blog works ok now for you I hate it when that happens

  • Helen

I can’t wait to see this one completed and quilted. I pretty much love everything about it… color combinations, shapes, placement… It has the right attitude, right!

  • Tracie

Happy 35 years! I wondered if it had been that long. Brian and I are just a bit ahead of you, and we were commenting that 50 years doesn’t seem so far anymore. I’m curious to see what you did with your batiks! I have two projects going: pumpkins and a summer WIP. I’m definitely sewing this morning!

  • Kathleen McCormick

Congrats on 35 years! Our 30th is next week. You will settle into your space and enjoy it. I am taking out stitches on a quilt top – didn’t like the tension on the first row….very slow going. Have a fun week whatever you do!

Happy Anniversary! We aren’t real savy on those selfies either, it seems we always have our heads held wrong or someone looking over their glasses as he can’t see through the bifocals well at that distance to see the phone, LOL. Glad you had a nice little trip.

  • Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl

Oh dear, 30 emails over the weekend telling you your server was down sounds like that might have been a bit stressful (and a tad too many emails to send, oy)! I’m glad everything seems to be working again. And Happy Anniversary!! Enjoy your sew day with friends this week. 🙂

Congratulations on 35 years of marriage! Spending years with your best friend is a blessing. May the year ahead be even better than the last ones!

  • texasquiltgal

Happy Anniversary! You guys like to celebrate the same way we do. That chocolate croissant – oh my!
Your quilt top is so vibrant, and that bundle of batiks is glorious. Looking forward to that one!
Thank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesday!

Congrats on your anniversary, Wendy! 35 years is a big achievement, and I like the way that you two celebrate! A backwoods drive and a night away sounds heavenly to me!

I was one of those who could not access your blog yesterday, but I had no problem this morning. I have already been to that post, and I am sure glad that I was able to see your bold version! Wonderful! 🙂

  • Rochelle Summers

Congratulations to you and your hubby. It takes two to make a successful marriage! Glad you had some away time. That batik fabric looks beautiful so I’ll be looking forward to “show and tell” soon. I guess I was lucky my comment got through.

  • marissthequilter

Looking forward to seeing what you made with those lovely fabrics that you stumbled across when moving into your new work space. Congratulations on your anniversary. Glad you celebrated it by taking a favourite trip. The backroads are often the best way to travel.

Huge congrats to you and Hubby! That is a wonderful milestone. My first husband and I celebrated 34 years together and I am so happy he is still my friend. Shared history means so much. I think I’m liking bright colours more or something as I just love this piece and those batiks too. BTW, made your sausage gumbo recipe and it turned out delicious!

  • Cocoa Quilts

Congratultions on your first 35!!! Wishing you another 35!!! Just like we like it too, low key and relaxing! Looking forward to see your new space!!

What a wonderful detail.. happy anniversary for you AND your husband. Husbands of quilting ladies have a big heard!!! to survive between fabrics, needles found in bed… “aua”, pay the bills at fabric stores, support with building furniture, ideas – if sewing room needs renovation and more space to store…so, he needs to get a big applause as well, or?
:-)) I do not know how it is in the States.. but here in Germany weeding years have names. I looked it up and 35 is “linen” wedding, or “canvas” where you paint pictures on. Why? This name is given because your marriage takes nearly every hurdle… and the connection is as tearproof / tear-resistant like true linen. Love the way you celebrated, go way one night, enjoy the time together. low-key for others but important for you both.
I love batic fabric for shoppers and other small bags. Will be interesting to see what you do out of it.

  • The Morning Latte

Happiest of anniversary wishes to you both! Love the coffee shop pic (I totally would’ve gotten the chocolate croissant, too!). Sheesh, you did have some blog stress didn’t you? Your quilt turned out just fantastic! Love how colorful it is! Off to go check out the previous post!

  • Sandi

Happy anniversay to you & Big J!! I love your Topsy Turvy quilt! The colors are so vibrant. I think I’m going to have to make that quilt.

  • Needle and Foot

Happy anniversary to both of you!! You celebrated in just the perfect way.
Love your version of Topsy Turvy – those quilts have been lots of fun to see this week.
    Happy Friday to you Wendy!
