Two and Four Finish
It’s Friday, and I have my Two and Four finish to show you today. Back in October, I posted my Two and Four flimsy; you can read that post here. The Two and Four Quilt Along was hosted by Katy Quilts and Wedding Dress Blue. It was one of my favorite quilt alongs of 2021.
My Two and Four quilt was made using my stash of Kim Diehl and Jo Morton fabrics, with a few other reproduction fabrics thrown in for fun. The quilt measures 60″ x 80″. For backing, I used 90″ wide chocolate brown minky. Of course, I had to make brownies, just to prove that the minky is chocolate brown.
Those are King Arthur Gluten Free brownies, by the way (no affiliate) and they are so good! Okay, back to the quilt . . .
Connie didn’t trim the Minky from the sides of the quilt when she was finished quilting it, because it makes such a linty mess. I was so happy because that meant I could try Nancy’s (Grace and Peace Quilting) tutorial on self-binding with Minky. You can read Nancy’s tutorial here. It worked so well! I will definitely use this method again.
Of course, Wilbs wanted to show off his beauteous furs and how well he blends with the quilt.
This is not a good photo of the chocolate brown minky, but it does show the pretty quilting design Connie used for my quilt.
This photo is more true to color.
And the full quilt, being held up by BigJ. He is 6’6″ tall, to give you an idea of the size of the quilt.
Thanks to Katy and Deanna for putting this quilt along together last fall. Thanks to all of you who stopped by to take a peek at my Two and Four Finish!
Linking up today with:
Happy Friday, my friends!

It’s beautiful, Wendy! The minky makes it so cozy. Thanks for playing along with us!

Wow, I love your quilt! It’s the ultimate in cozy colors and feel with that minky backing. (I’ve made those brownies before and they are delish!)
The Joyful Quilter
I really wanted to participate in that QAL. The finished size is sure to keep someone super cozy (and is perfect for any number of donation opportunities.) Your quilt turned out beautifully in those reproduction prints, Wendy!!

It turned out absolutely gorgeous!! That brown Minky for the backing was the absolute perfect icing on the… brownie LOL! Once again Connie outdid herself with that quilting. I should have remembered Nancy‘s tutorial when I did the heart quilt for Dayna‘s BFF’s baby. Next time! Bet Wilbs is ecstatic to have a new super-snuggly quilt for himself 😉
Melody
You make so many beautiful, vibrant quilts. But I have to admit, these colors are always my favorites! 😊

looks great – must be a good weight for winter with the minky for the back

So, sew good, Wendy!!! Nice and loooong!!! Love the brownie illustration!?! And I’m glad you got to use the self binding with your minkee back! Makes the edges as cuddly as the rest! Awesome quilting, too!!!
Brenda @ Songbird Designs
That’s a great quilt, Wendy. I bet the minky makes it sooooo soft and cuddly! I can see why Wilbs wanted to show off with it! LOL The brownie looks great. I had to go check out their products.

Your Two by Four is gorgeous. I like how the light fabric really brightens up the darker colours. I also like how you roll, Wendy, making brownies to match your quilt. Great idea. Minky sounds divinely cozy.

That is a pretty big quilt for you to make. I think you had the perfect fabrics for it and the perfect excuse to make brownies, LOL
The Morning Latte
Oh wow, I didn’t realize you put minky on the back! And yes the binding looks great–as does the quilting of course. She did a great job. I bet this is the quilt everyone fights over?! (does Wilbs win?) As for the brownie–there’s a little joke among my siblings: Being the youngest, I wasn’t there but as the story goes, someone was sitting there eating something fantastic and one of the little ones at the time came up and said “Hmm, I wonder how that would taste in MY mouth?” all serious-like so now whenever someone has something yummy, well, we all say it. So I’m wondering!

That chocolate brown(ie) minkee does look yummy and warm! Did Big J call this quilt for himself? What a great idea for the binding, too. Beautiful finish, Wendy! Oh, and is the King Arthur gluten free brownie a mix? 🙂
Jan Ochterbeck
Love your color palette! Such an effective pattern to showcase these prints. Luscious quilting, too.

Dang it – brownies, Wilbs, chocolate brown Minky, two-by-four goodness. What a fabulously delicious post. Now I have a hankering for brownies. Thank you for that. Fabulous finish, fabulous quilting, fabulous Wilbs (of course!), and fabulous job to you. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

That is a beautiful quilt and so perfectly long! Now I want a brownie. I’ve been afraid to use minky for a back. Someday I’ll need to just go for it.

Wendy, your quilt looks fantastic … and so do the brownies … now I want to go and make brownies!!! 🙂
Kathleen McCormick
Well, that is one gorgeously huge finish! I love the Minky self-binding…perfect. Connie’s quilting is great and Wilbs and the brownie…both are yummy in their own way.
laura bruno lilly
Absolutely fantastic…front and back. Oh and of course those brownies are a winner, too.
Carol Andrews
Another beautiful quilt finish Wendy. Not only is it Wilbs approved, I’m in awe of the beautiful quilting Connie did. 😉
nanamickie
Gorgeous Quilt! I love it! Great pattern too! The backing is fun and I’ll bet Wilbs really loved it! 🙂
Gwyned Trefethen
The only thing missing from the post a picture of you holding a mug of steaming hot chocolate, wrapped in the quilt, with your cat snuggling in pondering the brownie. Such a cozy post, just like your quilt.
Sharon Kwilter
That’s a neat pattern. It would be a great leader-ender project.
texasquiltgal
What a beautiful finish! The minky just makes it for me. Is it for me? 😀 I love Wilbs’ “beauteous furs” against those colors, and I love that design. Connie’s quilting is brilliant as always. Thanks for linking the self-binding tute.
Quilting is in my Blood
Such a great quilt, and the minky back just makes it!

That’s a lovely quilt! Well done!

I love your quilt front and also the way the quilting shows up so well on the minky. It looks really snug 🙂

That turned out nice! What a great stashbuster.
