Two and Four Flimsy
I have my Two and Four Flimsy to show you today. I joined Katy Quilts and Wedding Dress Blue for their Two and Four QAL, and I thoroughly enjoyed this project.
As you can see from the photo above, I chose earthy, autumn colors, pulling from my stash of Kim Diehl, Jo Morton and other reproduction fabrics. Looking closely, however, you would find a renegade batik and even a Christmas print in the mix!
I chose to make the smaller version along with Deanna of Wedding Dress Blue. I have to admit, at each stage of the QAL – the cutting and the sewing, there were times I thought I’d be cutting and sewing forever – but those times passed and soon the quilt was done.
It was windy today, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to get a photo without a quilt holder. So I waited until hubs got home and after dinner we hustled out the door for a few quick photos. The wind was cooperative, thankfully!
Here’s a quick photo on our full-size guest bed. This photo shows the rich colors a bit better than the outdoor photo.
The top measures approximately 60″ x 80″. I plan to add a rich brown minky fabric for the backing. Wilbs and I are looking forward to snuggling under this quilt later this winter!
I’m so glad I finished the Two and Four Flimsy so I can link up with Katy Quilts, and so I can show it to you today.
Thanks, Katy and Deanne, for a fun quilt along!
Linking up with
Happy Friday, everyone!
Wendy

I like that – nice old fashion charm to it and looks like you would be able to make this easily from scraps – I really have to keep bookmarking ideas or something
Laura
I like your version! I have this one bookmarked…we’ll see. 🙂

Love your Two and Four! That is my kind of quilt. I figured Wilbs had a paw in deciding the colors (so attractive with his fur) and the minky backing. Do they do this QAL every year? I might join in next time.

Your quilt definitely says “Fall,” Wendy! And the minky backing will really make it warm and cozy. 60 x 80 doesn’t sound smaller to me, though! 😉 It will be a great snuggle quilt!

Between the colors and the Minky, you and Wilbs are going to be SEW cozy in this lovely quilt when it’s done!!

I’m so glad to see your version of this quilt. I liked both of the other quilts, but it wasn’t calling to me for some reason. Now that I’ve seen yours, I know why: I much prefer the variety of fabrics and the warm tones you chose. Thanks for the inspiration, Wendy!

A lovely finish and the minky will make it oh so cozy for you and Wilbs.

Wow! Love this one! Yeah that Minky back will really finish this off nicely.

I would not have immediately recognized it as one of yours. It looks great on the bed.

What a fabulous fall quilt! The pattern looks so fun, though I can see why it might have felt like you’d be cutting or sewing forever, lol. It looks like it would make a great leader/ender project, too. A minky back will make it super snuggly.

Ooh, this is great! I think a rich brown Minky will be perfection to this quilt, and I have SUCH a great mind picture of you and Wilbs snuggling under it, you with a book…

Beautiful finish Wendy and the brown Minky will be the perfect backing for this beauty!
