Two Block Friday

Today is Two Block Friday here at my little quilt haven. This week has been pretty unproductive. I only have two blocks to show you, but they are two blocks I like!

Before I get to those, remember the Kim Diehl quilt I finished recently?

Two Block Friday - I made this little Kim Diehl quilt, Twisted Stars, from a kit I received - piecefulthoughts.com

I was able to give it to my mother-in-law the other night. She had seen one of my other Kim Diehl quilts and mentioned how much she liked it. Here it is on her table at her home.

She was delighted that the quilt went so well with her centerpiece and the other colors in her home.

Summertime Sampler Blocks

Summertime Sampler is a block of the month quilt along with a pattern designed by Shelly of Prairie Moon Quilts. Yesterday I completed Blocks 5 and 6.

Block 5 is a bright, happy block. It was relaxing to make.

Block 6 is the classic block, Goose in the Pond.

My goose was almost cooked with this block. I finished it and it was bumpy and wouldn’t lay flat. I starched it into submission, placed it on the floor for a photo and realized I had one of the blocks facing the wrong direction. The ripper and I took care of that, and when it was fixed, it was no longer bumpy, but laid nice and flat.

And that, my friends, is all I’ve managed to get done this week. What about you? What was your favorite project this week?

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!

Wendy

Isn’t it nice when you make something for someone they actually want and appreciate? Sometimes I’m not sure how well my quilting gifts are appreciated. Your two blocks turned out great. I love the goose in the pond, especially.

Those are really great looking blocks! I’m glad the second one behaved after you disciplined it with the seam ripper 🙂 I’m fighting a quilt this week. It doesn’t want to quilt flat or square. Sigh.

Hi Wendy! Your MIL’s centerpiece looks perfectly content there on her table. I love those two blocks – what size do they finish at? I suspect they are small, and you were working with little, itty bitty pieces? Have a great weekend, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

It looks like your Kim Diehl mini is perfect for your MIL’s decor! I bet she is so pleased that you gave it to her. I think the Summer Time Sampler blocks look like a week’s worth of work – they are very detailed and so pretty!

Those blocks look like a bit of work, and they’re beautiful. Not such a bad week’s output at all. The little quilt is perfect with that fruit tree; no wonder your MIL is charmed.

I like what you got done and so glad you MIL loved her quilt. It is a beauty. I hate when I discover my error the way you did – it would not have been pretty in my studio that happened to me.

MILs are very hard to impress and if I have learned anything from “Everybody Loves Raymond” it is this – Why bother? So if you have a MIL who is delighted with your work, it surely speaks volumes about you!!! Hope you can keep it up, Wendy!!! You know you are only as good as your last effort 😀 (I am channeling Marie).
