Wednesday Block Party
It has been a quiet week, and I’ve been working on blocks. Moda Blockheads 2 blocks mainly.
Minnesota Quilters Mystery Quilt
Before I started the MB2 blocks, I did get caught up on the next clue for our Minnesota Quilters’ Mystery Quilt. Here they are, looking pretty.
Nothing too exciting when all alone, but I cannot wait to see them combined with the other blocks.
Moda Blockheads 2 Progress
Okay, here’s the Moda Blockheads I’ve recently finished.
This block is 12.5″ unfinished. I’m not very good at applique, but I don’t mind doing a little now and then.
This block also 12.5″ unfininshed. That little star in the center is 3-1/2″ square. The star points started at 1-1/4″ squares. Needless to say, this block took a little while to make, but it is one of my favorites.
These are not two blocks; this is one complete block, measuring 6,5″ x 12.5″ unfinished. The next block I made is very similar.
Notice the similarity? Choosing the fabrics for this 6″ block was fun; it’s the perfect block to make the Kim Diehl/Jo Morton fabrics shine. The layout of the block looks easy, but I kept getting confused as I was putting it together. It made sense once I worked from the center square and followed the pattern photo.
This was a quick little 6″ block. It’s brighter than it appears in the photo.
That leaves me with 4-5 blocks I still need to do to get caught up, not including the block that will come out today. The remaining blocks are bigger, one at 18″ and another 24″. Soon I will need to lay out all of the blocks and see how they look. I’m not sure I have the floor space, so it will be interesting!
For the rest of this week, I’ll be at my brother and sister-in-law’s home to help with some sewing projects. I’m looking forward to spending time with them. I may not get a post done, but I’ll try to take some photos to share with you when I do!
Looking forward to hearing about what you are working on this week!

That’s a lot of sewing. Some of those star blocks can be tricky to put together. They all look fantastic.

Hi Wendy! Wow – you really had to do a lot of blocks at one time. I really LOVE that little block with that ended up 6.5×12.5! So cute, and all of your fabric choices are just spot on. It will be fun to see these all come together. Have fun visiting and sewing! It sounds like lots of laughs are in your future as well. ~smile~ Roseanne

I love the blocks you have done and you really are catching up – that snow is good for something. It was a balmy 17 as we left the island today, with the wind causing white caps in the harbor! You could take pictures of your blocks and arrange that way, if you don’t have the space, either printing or collaging or something like that on a photo program…. I can’t wait to see it – it is going to be gorgeous.
