Wee Project Wednesday
It’s not just Wee Project Wednesday here, it’s been wee projects every day lately. I thought I’d show you a few of the fun little squirrels that have shown up in my quilt room.
Improv Zippy Pouch
I had some scraps left over from my improv pillow, so I made a little zippy pouch. Each side is different.
I had a little fun quilting random straight lines using Aurifil 50 wt. thread in turquoise.
The zippy pouch is about 6 x 8 inches. I use these pouches to tote hand sewing supplies for each of my sewing projects. I also love to give them as gifts.
Exploring Hand Piecing
Diann of Little Penguin Quilts is having so much fun hand piecing, she inspired me to give it a try. Using Snack Set #7 from Victoria Findlay Wolfe, I’ve made a few blocks. I’m not sure how well I’m doing, but they are enjoyable to work on while watching a show.
The Owl and The Pussycat
I’m having some fun playing with this owl churn dash block, which will become a pincushion. I’m just pondering how to do a little embellishing.
My favorite wee project so far is this fun little 3-inch pincushion using Maker Maker fabric and some Essex linen. Both of these pincushions are inspired by a pattern from the book, Pin Pals by Carrie Nelson.
All of these wee projects are fun diversions while I’m working on my challenge quilt and my projects for the Christmas Then and Now Blog Hop. How about a little sneak peek at those two projects?
Does that pique your curiosity at all?
How about you? Are you working on any fun projects this Wee Project Wednesday? I’d enjoy hearing about them!

That’s a big pile of wee projects. Well done! You have certainly piqued my curiosity. Love all the dotty backgrounds to the circles and am watching this space. I did work out which was the Christmas project (ha ha) and so the other “peek” must be the challenge
Janine @ Rainbow Hare
These are lovely wee projects and I’m very curious about your Christmas makes 🙂

All lovely little projects. Ahh I think I know which is the Christmas project.

Very fun pincushions and a fun little bag. You’ve been busy on numerous fronts. Looking forward to seeing your secret sewing.

Those are wee, but no wee effort that goes into them! I’m impressed with your foray into hand piecing – very pretty! Last year I did my best to enjoy the SAL by Elm Street Quilts, and I finished it, but I did not enjoy it. My Granny would be disappointed to hear that I’m sure! What a cute peek at your two projects.

love your bag! I never see dark squirrels like that here ours are all gray or a very light gray/brown color

I will leave all that hand piecing to you and Diann and I will just admire and enjoy your work! Oh that pouch is sew cute while the cat pinnie is just to sweet!
Quilting is in my Blood
My curiosity is definitely peaked! And I love your wee projects, especially the cat pincushion! Have a great day, Mary.

I love all your wee projects! And I even got to inspire you for one! Those snack set templates are very tempting, and I like the blocks you’re working on from them. I never expected to enjoy hand-piecing as much as I do, so glad you’re giving it a try. The improv zipper pouch and the pincushions, too – so fun! I’ve been in the mood for making a new pouch – you can never have too many! 🙂

Those are so cute, but the kitty pincushion is my favorite. Too cute.

Got to make sure there’s a bolt of Grunge Fog at the RHFC (retirement hotel fabric closet). When can we see your challenge quilt?

Hi Wendy! What fun wee projects. That squirrel has been running rampant, hasn’t he?! I’m surprised Wilbur doesn’t get after him . . . but all that sunning in the window has left him carefree. I just LOVE the little kitty pincushion. And your pouch!!! What a great way to keep those favorite fabrics nearby so you’re still able to enjoy them. ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Wendy!
You have a LOT of fun wee projects!
For the owl pincushion … what about some simple big stitch quilting?
Keep having fun! 🙂

Hi Wendy
Your wee projects are wonderful! Thanks for adding more squirrels to my life! Not sure which should be first? Bags with leftovers or sweet little pincushions. 😉

I spy some curved piecing! How fun! Your zippy pouch turned out really great, Wendy. What fabric did you line it with? I finished sewing the last long seam on a row quilt of red, white and blue orphan blocks today. I could use a wee project right now; those long rows are tiring so I had to take a nap 🙂

Love love love all these wee projects! They are perfect and perfectly fun!

Such fun little projects! That owl is me around 3 o’clock needing a nap!

The owl seems angry but the cat is inscrutable. They both have attitudes but both are lovable.
Just watched Hamilton; in a mood to rap. The zipper pouch is a darling and a great use of scraps.

Love the start of that owl pincushion! Such a nice owl! I am realizing I need some small projects so I can get some easy wins/quicker finishes done this summer.
Dione @ Clever Chameleon
Ha! You are a tease, although I will admit you did pique my interest. Love the owl and the pussycat churn dashes a lot. Thanks for sharing at the Chameleon’s Colour & Inspiration Party!
