Weekly Check In

Happy Tuesday, all! I’m popping in with my weekly check-in and to link up with Texas Quilt Gal’s To Do Tuesday Linky Party

Last week, my list was short:

  • Work on Endeavourers Challenge Quilt
  • Plan the Quilt Improv Studio challenge quilt

I’m very excited to share that my Endeavourers Challenge quilt top is done, but I can’t show you any of it. I tried to come up with a sneak peek photo, but it was too easy to give it away. So you’ll have to wait to see it until August 1st.

I didn’t make much progress on the Quilt Improv Studio challenge, since I was focused on the other challenge quilt. I’ll give that a bit more thought this week.

Meanwhile . . .

So what exactly took up my week other than the challenge quilt? Well, the photo above should give you some idea – it was cherry pickin’ weekend. We left for Door County around 1 pm on Friday, and got back home at 7 pm Saturday. It was a quick trip and we were a bit tired, but happy,  by the time we got home. We picked 6 buckets of cherries, which have all been processed into 36 very tasty pints of cherry sauce.

We stayed at a hotel in Green Bay, WI that was right on the river. It was within walking distance to several restaurants. On Saturday morning, we had breakfast at The Creamery because we were enticed by their shareable “Eggs Bene Flight” which consisted of regular eggs benedict, Town Drunk (made with beer cheese sauce), and Pulled Pork. I forgot to snap a photo, but you can get a peek on their website here if you are interested.

It was a pleasant morning view, too, as I sipped my coffee (yes, you read that right – I can drink coffee again!!)

The only other accomplishment of note this week was finishing this book.

An enjoyable read by Susanna Kearsley - piecefulthoughts.com

This was one of those books that drew me in, and although I wanted to know how it turned out, I didn’t want it to end. The reviews of the book are mixed (and some have high spoiler alerts), so maybe I was just in the mood, but I thoroughly enjoyed the read.

Back to My Weekly Goals . . .

My goals or to do list for this week is pretty simple once again:

  • Quilt the Endeavourers challenge quilt
  • Start the Quilt Improv Studio quilt

I’m also taking part in the Queen of Gadgets Blog Hop, so I need to start planning my project for that. Carol (Just Let Me Quilt) sent out her upcoming blog hop listing recently. You can see them all here

I hope your weekly check-in has been more productive than mine!

Happy stitching!

Wendy

How about a cherry pie? Although you picked sweet cherries, right? The logo on that gadget blog hop is hilarious. I read the first few pages of that book on Amazon, so it’s now on my must-have list – time travel is a favorite theme of mine!

I guess I’ve been reading your blog long enough to know that this is the time of year I struggle not to be jealous of you. Getting to pick cherries is a dream. That photo is just yummy!

  • karenfae

your yearly cherry picking time! sounds like fun and nice to get them all processed so quickly I bet. I have never heard of pulled pork for breakfast! leave that to Green Bay to come up with LOL – I grew up only about 20 miles from that city and love Door Co.

Well, I’m glad to know you’re back to drinking coffee! I must have missed when that happened. The Eggs Bene Flight sounds marvelous. I don’t think we’re getting to Green Bay this trip, but if we do, I’ll look for that place.

  • Kathleen McCormick

Wonderful post! Love seeing those cherries but boy oh boy that is a lot of processing. Going to check out the flight of eggs Benedict for fun, right after this. Fun to see the hop you are participating in…think I will be holding off for a tiny bit before committing, but boy am I ready… Stepping on the pedal today after I get a bit of this done!

Anytime you run out of ideas for the cherries, just dry them and pour dark chocolate sauce over them to make some delicious candy and I’ll be by to pick some up along with Wilbs and I’ll be on my way.Big wink!

Oh, how interesting. When I was walking Sunday, I was thinking about you and wondering if you were going to do cherry picking this year! Little did I know that you had completed that task the day before. Look forward to seeing that challenge quilt next month. You must be thrilled to be able to drink coffee again! Have a great (productive) week.

  • The Morning Latte

Yeah, I clicked on it–the Eggs Bene Flight–and yum! So jealous of the cherries and they’re not even my favorite fruit (per a previous convo) but now I feel like maybe we should add, once again, a couple trees to our orchard–if anything for the quilt inspiration! (The deep red!). Hallelujah on the coffee! Are you jittery after or did you slip right back into it?

The cherries sound delicious and so does your breakfast! Nice to get away, even if it was a quick trip. I’ll have to check out that book – I’m not familiar with that author. Good luck with your challenge quilts, and a project for the blog hop, too.

Love cherries but its winter here so no cherries. Yummy though. I enjoyed The Winter Sea some time back now on audio, must read or listen to another of hers.

Hi Wendy! What a great impromptu trip for cherries. I’ve always wanted to go and pick them in Door County. It looks like the trees were loaded. Nice!! I think we’ve stayed at that place in GB on the river – the photo looks familiar. Don’t you make something else with the cherries – like cherry wine or cherry whiskey? Anyway, good luck with your list this week! {{{Hugs}}} ~smile~ Roseanne
