What I’m Working On
I thought I’d share a quick post of what I’m working on lately. I haven’t done this for a bit, and I have a few projects in the works.
30 Days of Improv QAL
You’ve seen my posts on this QAL, and I now have the quilt top sewn together and I’m prepping the back. Here are the last two blocks for this week, along with some little pieces I’ve made from the leftover bits. I incorporated them into the quilt top, which was both fun and a little challenging.
Tuxedo Tales Blocks
I’ve fallen behind on these wool applique blocks, mainly due to the work on my last challenge quilt, which took up a lot of my quilting time. This is where I’m at with the July block. There are a lot of buttons to be sewn on this block, and I need to get the buttons first. I haven’t even begun work on August’s block, and the month is almost over. I hope to get caught up in September.
Firm Foundation Quilt
This is a project I meant to begin months ago, but I just kept putting it off. Now that I’ve started, I’m making good progress. I’m currently working on some 6-inch Ohio Star blocks. You can see the Firm Foundation pattern here.
This is such a change from working on improv. The triangles are cut and pieced the “old school” way, sewing two triangles together, trim, cut, etc. I need to make 24, and I have maybe 6 done so far.
And a New Project!
I’ll tell you more about this project soon, but I wanted to share the fabric pull. Can you tell I am thinking about the fall season, with its cooler weather and colorful leaves?
I’m very excited to begin working on this one! Incidentally, that deep purple on the right has been changed to a lighter one, for those of you who might have noticed that.
So there’s a little peek at what I’m working on – at least a few of the projects (there are more). I enjoy the variety!
Happy weekend, all!
Wendy

It’s fun watching those improv blocks develop and I can’t wait to see what you do with all the tuxedo kitty blocks. (I just love the houndstooth fabric for the cat!). Oh yay! Somebody else is feeling fall vibes! Anxiously awaiting the project reveal there! Oh, and the Ohio blocks are wonderfully crisp and well done! (says the person who’s currently working with similar shapes! LOL). Are you making that quilt with them? Or just the Ohio’s?
Quilting is in my Blood
Your Tuxedo Tales block is wonderful and will look even better with the buttons. I’m loving your first two blocks for your Firm Foundations quilt project, and your fall fabric pull is perfect for an autumn quilt project.

Beautiful fabric pull. I missed that dark purple until you said (LOL). So many pretty projects. Can’t wait to see the improv quilt top. It’s fun to see what’s happening in your quilty life.

I have great admiration for those of you who can have several projects going on at once… leave something… come back to it… wait a month for the next step… not have things finished before moving on… I strive to be, or maybe have just a little bit, of that.

Oooh, Wendy! Thanks for all the eye candy. I’m thrilled to see your hibiscus flower leading off your post. My plant to doing well, too. We’ll have to remember that next year when we think they’ve died over the winter – late bloomers! Your fabric pull looks interesting. I can’t wait to see what it grows into. The Firm Foundation blocks look fab – I love the Ohio Star pattern. Your fabric choices are just fab, too. Happy Friday! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
