Works in Progress
Thought I’d share some of my works in progress today. There have been a few squirrels, too, but those are for another post or two.
The largest of my works in progress is this quilt. The pattern is Firm Foundation by My Wandering Path. The fabrics and the panels are from the Songbook line from Fancy That Design House.
Not a great photo, but I think you can see the design well enough. I have the vertical sashing done between the blocks, and next I need to add the horizontal sashing. Once that is done, there are three borders – a cream 2.5″ border, then a red 1.5″ border, and then another 2.5″ border. My goal is to finish this up this week, but I’m not highly motivated to work on those sashings and borders. Maybe having it in this post will hold me accountable!
I had a little fun doing some wool stitching in the evenings, but I completely forgot to take a photo of the finished pieces before I gave them away! Anyway, Wilbs thought the sparkly thread was fascinating, and was really helpful while I was stitching.
I’ve also tested a few blocks for Sandra Healy Designs. Here are two of them. I have tested several of her Nativity blocks, and will soon put them together as a quilt. I like that Sandra offers just the block for purchase, but also bundles them by theme. I just finished one more test block, and I’ll show you that one soon, after Sandra publishes it.
And I’ve finished the November block for Tuxedo’s Tales. Wilbs is getting excited that his 12 blocks are almost done!
I think I’m caught up on my works in progress, so we’ll see if I can finish the Firm Foundation this week. I’d really like something new, and maybe Christmas-y up on my design wall!

I love your firm foundations quilt – it is stunning. Love Wilbs staring at you want to play with something sparkly. We had a cat, she hid shiny things under the hutch in the dining room. These blocks from Sandra’s pattern are great. I was hoping you were doing a block for Sandra. I have the pattern and someday I will do it – as it is gorgeous as your sample block is.

I love that firm foundations quilt. What a fun way to use printed panels.

Your Songbook quilt is looking so great!!! I want to make one or two of those churches–on my to-do list! Love those nativity blocks, too!!!

Wilbs has a very intense look on his face in the photo you snapped while you were stitching the wool with sparkly thread! I hope that this is the motivation you need to finish the Firm Foundation quilt flimsy. There’s not much left to go; you can do it! 🙂

An exciting array of projects.
Strength with sashing — I agree that stitching the sashing is a bit of a chore, but it will be good to finish those fine houses.
The Nativity scenes are delightful, as is the latest tuxedo block.

Oops. Fine churches

You have been quite busy. The firm foundations quilt is lovely and to finish it up will be a feather in your cap. Wilbs is just such a great model…and it helps to have something in your hands that keeps him focused.

Sending you some good vibes so you can finish up your FF, which is looking great! The tester blocks look awesome too.

Those all look like fun projects, Wendy! The Firm Foundation quilt is so pretty – I love the way it’s using the panel pieces in the churches. I’m never very excited about working on sashing either – that step always slows me down. The Nativity blocks are delightful, too – especially all in Grunge! I’m going to have to check out her site. Enjoy whatever you work on next!

Firm Foundation is really fun! Congrats on all the progress and good luck with your plans for moving each along. I’m to the “what gets done, gets done” stage of the year.

Firm Foundation is so neat – love the panels with those familiar words, and the quilt itself is beautiful. Those nativity blocks are adorable! So glad you had good help with your wool stitching. 😉

The nativity blocks are fantastic. And, I’m looking forward to the day when all those kitty blocks come together.

Really enjoyed this post. Firm foundation with the panels in the church itself, what a great idea. And I love your Kitty,Kitty.

I love all the projects you’ve been working on. The Firm Foundation quilt blocks are wonderful, those nativity blocks are on my list of blocks to make next year, and the wool stitching cat block just makes my day!
