Gnome in the Forest

If you’ve followed me long enough, you know I like gnomes. So when Vicki asked if I’d test Gnome in the Forest for her, I said yes!

If you’ve followed Vicki of Vicki’s Crafts & Quilting long enough, you know she comes out with some very cute designs, and Gnome in the Forest is another one you’ll want in your pattern stash! More about how you can get your own at the end of this post.

Here’s my version:

Isn’t he just the cutest little gnome, with a pink nose? I had just the right fabric for the hat, and I couldn’t resist using this fabric for the backing:

I used a scrap piece of white batting for his beard, but minky, or cuddle cloth, or sherpa would be fun, too!

Because this was a test pattern and I wanted to finish it quickly, I opted for using a serpentine stitch to quilt the little mini. It was a little experiment to see how I liked it. I’m not really in love with the quilting, but I do love the mini. Next time, I’ll practice some free motion and have a little fun. You can also see that I used a simple zig zag to stitch around the appliqué pieces, which is quick and easy.

Vicki released this pattern just in time for you to get a head start on your Christmas sewing. This pattern can be done in an afternoon, it’s that quick!

You can get all the information on the pattern and the link to buy your own over at Vicki’s site – just click right here. (There’s a promo code for you at her site until October 8th, so don’t wait to get yours!)

Thanks, Vicki, for letting me test this fun pattern for you!

Wendy
