Barn Quilt BOM Mini

I have the first of my Barn Quilt BOM mini quilts to show you today. This BOM is hosted by Sherry. There are two options for this BOM; make a large quilt, or go with mini quilts. I decided to do the mini quilts because I have so many large BOMs in progress. The mini quilts are quick to make.

My first step was to use the color pages provided by Sherry to play with colors for my mini. My design is a little different from the block layout for the larger quilt.

There were solids in my stash that matched the colors in the coloring page. For the background, I used Grunge Fog, thinking it would give it a weathered look.

The first four blocks went together so easily. Sherry’s patterns are so well done.

This month, I finished the rest of the blocks, and stitched the top together.

Wilbur was pretty sure he needed to hold down that corner. This Barn Quilt BOM mini measures about 24.5 inches. Now I need to find a backing in my stash and figure out how to quilt it.

Thanks, Sherry, for hosting the Barn Quilt BOM. I’m looking forward to Month 3, and I already have my design colored out. We’ll see if I go with it, or change it up.

Such a beautiful barn quilt. I think making the minis is an excellent choice! So nice when you can use the stash, too.

  2. Hi Wendy! Aww, I love seeing Wilbur’s sweet little paws on the corner of your block. This is turning out to be so pretty – I can’t wait to see next month’s piece. ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Great idea of using the Fog Grunge for the “weathered look”-now I need some for my stash. Your piecing is so precise-did Wilber help you?
