Best of 2018 Linky Party

Best of 2018 - Best of 2018 Linky Party hosted by Meadow Mist Designs - piecefulthoughts.com

I’m joining the Best of 2018 Linky Party hosted by Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs. It’s my first time here, so let me share a few of my favorite quilts from my year with you.

Spring Paws Patio Table Topper

A favorite quilt of our family, we use this often during the warm months when we have meals on our patio.

You can read about the construction of this quilt here.

Sunrise Sunset Mini Quilt

This quilt was a design a drew up for the 30 Quilt Designs in 30 Days hosted by Sandra of mmmQuilts. I enjoyed creating this quilt from my sketch.

You can read about the process of making this quilt in this post.

Palm Canyon Bag

This bag with matching zipper pouch is one of my most used items.

I made this using a half jelly roll of Palm Canyon fabrics by Violet Craft. You can read about my design process for this bag here. I didn’t use a pattern, just designed as I went along.

Autumn Drive Quilt

Another design of my own, this improv strip quilt is one of my favorites from this year.

While the design process was fun, I really enjoyed taking this quilt with us on a road trip to Duluth, where I managed to get this photo. I made another smaller version of this strip quilt as a table runner. The Eleuthera Table Runner was given as a gift to a friend.

Mod Peels Wall Quilt

This is my favorite quilt that I made this year. This was my project for the Art with Fabric Blog Hop hosted in November. Rather than focus on a particular artist, I chose to focus on a particular style – Mid Century Modern.

I loved every bit of the design process for this quilt, from the sketch to the finish. Details are in this post, where I show the machine quilting and the use of orange peels in the design.

And there you have it, my Best of 2018 top five favorites for the year. Grab another cup of coffee or tea and head over to Meadow Mist Designs and take some time to read more Best of 2018 Linky Party posts. You’ll find quite a bit of inspiration! Thanks, Cheryl, for hosting the linky party once again this year!

Great recap of your favorites from this year, Wendy! I am absolutely in love with your mid-century modern quilt! It’s like Alexander Calder meets dandelions on a quilt! Three of my favorite tings together!! Fantastic!

  2. Fun to see what your favorite finishes of the year are, Wendy! I didn’t remember Sunrise Sunset – I’ll have to go back and read your post about it. The bag you made is great! I’ve been wanting to make myself a new tote bag for the new year – now I’m really inspired to get started on it!

  3. Mod Peels is my favorite too! I just started watching Mrs. Maisel and I think of it while watching that. I also love seeing the 30 design quilt made up – it is so much fun making up your designs! TRhe other 3 are of course terrific, too. Congrats on a great year!

  4. Wendy it is so fun to see your top 2018’s. How did I miss the Palm Canyon Bag, heading over to that link now to check it out. Happy New Year to you and yours.

  5. What a great collection! I love your table topper. Great idea. Now it has me wanting one for our patio table, only ours doesn’t have an umbrella. (It does, but we don’t use it.)

  6. I always love your projects Wendy but wow, that Mod Peels quilt is by far my favorite. I just love it. You made so many wonderful quilts this year. Quite the productive year for you. 🙂

  7. Well you know I still love your Mod Peels a whole bunch. And your Autumn drive yummy!! Yep you picked the best ones I think;) Looking forward to seeing your creations in the New Year.

  8. Hi Wendy! I’ll bet it was difficult to pick just five favorites. I just adore your Spring Paws. Each time I see it, it makes me regret getting rid of our patio table or even more not having a similar table topper for all the years we did have and used a patio table! But even more than that, I just LOVE Mod Peels. Wow – I forgot how wonderful that wall quilt is, and I’m going to go read about it again. Really nice job! Happy New Year! ~smile~ Roseanne

  9. What lovely quilts you’ve made this year, Wendy! I couldn’t pick a favourite, although I do love that picnic table bear paw one. What struck me is the creativity in the body of work. You have brought truly original quilts from ideas to finished products and they are beautiful. You should be proud of yourself.Congratulations!

  10. I love seeing these quilts again! I also love seeing the artist in you venturing more and more courageously forth; you truly are a talented woman! Glad to see I had a small part in it, and know that your patio tabletopper has had a hand in my projects this year…just a DrEAMi! that didn’t quite come to fruition, but is nearly there.
