Little Miss Sunshine

I’m just popping in to show you Little Miss Sunshine, my little quilt made for the Project Quilting challenge. The past few weeks have been overcast gray days here in my little corner of Minnesota, so when I saw that the challenge colors were yellow and gray, I thought it might be fun to play with my sunshine yellow and gray scraps.

Most of the fabrics are scraps, except for the print, which was a fat quarter. This little mini quilt measures 10.5″ x 23″. I quilted it with a simple straight line stitch, and machine stitched the binding.

This pattern is one of my favorites to make; it makes a perfect little mini to tuck on a counter, or give as a gift. You can see my other quilts using this design here and here. Using the curved templates from Jen Carlton Bailly, as well as her Turbine design, this quilt goes together very quickly.

Now I just need to find a place to display Little Miss Sunshine. If I can’t find sunshine outdoors, I’ll have to find it indoors with this little quilt.

What about you? Are you joining in on the Project Quilting challenge?

  1. I love gray with almost anything, and the yellow is perfect for dreary winter. I have a piece of Angela Walters fabric that would almost match your pattern, and it’s in gray and yellow! I’m having a look at this challenge, but I’ve already broken my vow not to join any QALs this year several times. 😀

That little quilt is adorable and will definitely bring some sunshine to your world! I love gray and yellow together.

  3. That is a fun mini quilt! You are doing amazing things with curves these days! And yellow is fun to sew with – perfect for the dark winter days. I did participate in Project Quilting a couple years ago, but kind of lost track of it. I’ll have to go check out what’s happening there!

  4. Cute.cute.cute! And the perfect name as well – we can all use a lot more sunshine in our lives. I was actually in sunshine for about 10 minutes at work today. It felt nice but it’s already overcast again. Tis the season for that, though. ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. Well that was a cute and quick project! So many fun groups and challenges starting now–part of me wants to join in a lot of things and another part of me wants to just sit back and let the year roll.

  6. Ooh! That’s so cute! It’s been so grey here too, but today we had the sun peek out for about an hour or so… I have to start mine (my pink playing has been obsessive) but I doodled my sketch and I’m super-excited to make it and play some more this week!

  7. Little Miss Sunshine fits the bill! Those look like great templates. I’ve not heard of them, but do have other templates for curved piecing.
