I’m slowly making progress on my 2025 Summer Solstice blocks. When I last posted an update, I had just finished this block, and then I set the pattern aside for a bit while I adjusted my attitude. At a later time, I did finish the next block.
This block went much better, and was truly a joy to make. Once the cutting was done, the block went together qujickly. That block was on my design wall for quite awhile, just because it cheered me up every time I looked at it.
Since it was Worldwide Quilting Day on Saturday, I decided I was in the mood to tackle another Summer Solstice block, so I finished up the center block in this now finished group.
That center circle was much easier to do than I thought it would be, so this block was finished quickly. For these blocks, I am using AGF Pure Solids in Cabernet for the background, it is a lovely deep plum. The other fabrics are Kona solids and Moda Grunge. The blocks finish at 18 inches.
Before the day was finished, I started the next block. I am halfway through the construction.
These units were foundation paper pieced. I used the no-rip paper foundation method, and it worked really well. I have two more arches to add to those “slices” before adding the background fabric. I am hoping the rest of the block goes together as easily as these units went together!
And that’s my progress on the Summer Solstice blocks. I have three more blocks to finish once this current one is done. I’m enjoying the challenge of constructing these blocks!

I did not even turn my machine on on Worldwide Quilting Day!! I love those blocks, but they look difficult. You are doing a beautiful job with them. I’m sure I’d have to adjust my attitude a few times before finishing them! LOL

I love these. Somehow, I missed seeing them before. I was going to tell you which was my favorite, but I keep looking and keep changing my mine. If they’re all a tie for favorite, I’ll have to go with JOY. Can’t wait to see the next ones.

These blocks take my breath away. The colour combination and the interesting shapes are dynamite. And they are so perfectly pieced. A masterpiece in the making.
