I have some Tuesday progress to show you today, as I link up with Texas Quilt Gal for her To Do Tuesday linky party.

Last week, one of my goals was to finish my challenge quilt for The Endeavourers, which is due August 1st. It is done, except for finishing the binding. Here’s another little teensy peek, but that’s all I can show you for now.

Not much of a sneak peek, I know, but anything else will give it away. I have had fun with this one!

I’m not much further on the improv quilt for the next Quilt Improv Studio challenge. The theme is Pop Art. I keep adding fabrics to the pull (that yellow with blue starbursts is new this week), but I’m still having trouble settling on an idea of what to do with them. All of these fabrics were in my stash, and I’ve enjoyed finding them.
Meanwhile, I pulled out this little mini and did some free motion quilting practice on it.

I decided to practice some swirls, using a light pink thread (Aurifil #2423, 50 wt.). Some of the swirls looked like swirls, others not so much.

One more photo, so you can see the colors of the fabrics better.

This little mini finished at 18″ square. I just need to sew down the binding on this little mini and it’s done. I’m sure I’ll find somewhere to use it.
So not a lot of Tuesday progress, but some! My goals for this coming week:
- Decide on the Quilt Improv Studio challenge and start sewing
- Plan what to make for the Queen of Gadgets Blog Hop in September

Thanks for stopping by and reading my post! I hope you’ve enjoyed some fun sewing lately!
Wendy

I keep being drawn in by the fabric pull for the improv quilt.
That yellow with blue starbursts is awesome, and I love the border fabric for your little mini. Wow on your FMQ! I’m jealous. 😉
Thank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesdy!
Cute mini, I think your swirls look great. Just remember that they tend to blend in when done.
Such happy, fun fabrics hanging out here, Wendy!!!
Very cute mini, and your quilting looks good. Hard to mess up swirls. Love the fabric pull, especially that top yellow print. Happy Tuesday!
looks pretty
I love your cheery little mini and I think the FMQ looks great!! Your fabric pull is absolutely popping with color for sure! Fun!!
Fun little peek of your improv challenge. Love the pop art collection of fabrics – it will be fun to see what you create. Nice work with the FMQ!
Hi Wendy! That sure isn’t a very big peek at your project but we’ll just to live with it, won’t we?! I love all those fabrics – I’m surprised you aren’t finding some inspiration from them for the Pop Art theme. Your mini is fun and I love doing some FMQ practicing. I rarely make the time to do so, and I should! Good luck this week, my friend. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
Do you start an improv with a complete plan? Or, do you just start and see where it takes you? Maybe a partial plan or idea?
I love your little mini quilt, and what a great way to practice some FMQ! You’ve got some fun fabric pulls for your other projects, too. Looking forward to seeing your Endeavourers project!
Looking forward to seeing The Endeavourers and the improv quilt.
Your peek into the project is a tease … I WANT TO SEE MORE!!!! but, I guess I need to be patient and wait ! Waiting can be so hard at times! 🙂
Congrats on finishing up that mini, Wendy! I’m looking forward to your challenge reveal. Best of luck on the Improv challenge (and I’ll be looking forward to that reveal, as well!)
You have been busy! Can’t wait to see the endevours piece — it looks like it is going to be a stunner. Enjoy working with that set of brights.
That mini where you practiced FMQ is so pretty. I love the variation in the quilting. It adds interest!
