I have a bit of 2026 quilting fun lined up for this year, so thought I would share it with you and see if you want to join me in the fun. I didn’t do a lot of quilt alongs in 2025, opting to just sew whatever came to mind. This year, I’d like to add a few in to keep me moving forward with projects.
The first of my 2026 quilting fun is joining in with Patterns by Jen for the 2026 Monthly Color Challenge.
This block of the month sew along is simple and fun. Jen chooses a color each month, and shares a block design for those colors. The blocks are 12.5 inches, a nice size to sew. Then, at the end of the year, Jen gives a layout for the final quilt.
This year Jen’s inspiration for her color choices is the wonderful world of frogs! She has released January’s block, and mine is already done, so you will see that in an upcoming post. I have participated in this sew along in the past, and two of the quilts were gifted as wedding gifts. One other group of blocks was sewn into a runner, which is now in my quilt room. My next 2026 quilting fun is the upcoming 2026 Stay at Home Round Robin.
This will be my sixth year joining Quilting Gail, founder of this fun QAL, as we create our quilts. My 2025 SAHRR quilt was fun to make and featured a quilt block made by my grandmother. In my post showing that quilt, you can see two other SAHRR quilts made by friends of mine. We have quite a variety of quilts when Parade Day comes around, and it’s fun to see all the creativity!
The Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) is a fun, unique way to design a quilt top. You choose your quilt block center, and each week, we give you a border design to add to it. Unlike a traditional Round Robin quilt where the quilt travels by mail from person to person, the Stay at Home Round Robin does just that – it stays at home, with you! You add your borders, we just give you the border idea to add each week. Gail has written up an introductory post with loads of information about the SAHRR, the prizes and our sponsors, so please check that out. It all starts on January 14th, and we’d love to have you join us.

My last 2026 quilting fun – for now – is to finish up my next challenge quilt for the art quilt group, The Endeavourers. The theme for this quarter is “motion”. I am working on my quilt and enjoying the process so far. If you would like to see the quilts our group has made for past challenges, you can visit The Endeavourers to see the posts. Our next quilt reveal is on February 1st, so I need to get my quilt finished up!
I’m sure as the year goes on, I’ll be adding more projects to my quilting dance card. These will keep me busy for now. With these three projects underway, my quilt room already looks like an explosion of color, and a bit of a mess. It’s all good, though, and I’m thoroughly enjoying myself.

Those sound like really fun projects to kick off the year, Wendy, and I look forward to seeing what you make. I’m also still pondering if I can participate in the SAHRR. I’m not sure, but will see how it fits in. I’m jumping right in with the first Project Quilting prompt later this afternoon!

As always I start a new year wanting to join in on every sew along I see. But being realistic I know I’ll just be following along with some. And diving right in with others. So many possibilities!!

I am planning my 2026 self-challenge, which is not going to be daily stitching this year! Am still working on the 2025 weather map.

I have so many unfinished projects that I must use discipline and get some of them finished! I will enjoy watching your progress!!!!
