It all started innocently enough, I was in between projects and thought I would reorganize a shelf in one of my cupboards. Before I knew it, I had a little finish all done! While reorganizing that shelf, I came across a hidden bundle of reproduction fabrics (forgot to snap a pic, sorry – I was fully in the moment). I’m sure I had squirreled it away for a specific project, but it’s been so long I can’t even recall what that might have been. Coming off of my bright, chaotic SAHRR quilt, these fabrics were much more subdued, but awfully pretty. I decided to look through my bookshelf, and found this quilt book with a page marked.
The pattern marked would work really well for the fabrics, so I was off and cutting before I could think twice. I had help while I stitched up some little pieces.
Those little 4-patches are 1-1/2 inches. I had told myself I should work on something bigger after my SAHRR quilt, but here we were! Soon those little bits grew.
And grew a little more, now they are 2-1/2 inches and there are 40 of them.
All of the piecing happened over a weekend. Once the top was done, I did some quick diagonal quilting with my AcuFeed foot and added the binding. Before I knew it, I had a little finish!
I just realized I forgot to snap a photo of the backing fabric, which is a floral in madder pink. The quilt measures 18 inches. The pink depression glass was my mother’s, and I love how it looks with this little quilt.

Cute! I think the depression glass was calling out for this little quilt to be made just for it.
This is a lot larger than many of my little finishes, haha. The mini quilt made beautiful use of the fabrics you found and I love that you were so engaged with the making of it that it flowed without you pausing to take photos. It looks wonderful and congratulations on the finish!
I think those kind of days in the sewing room can be the best. Gosh that looks like a really fun little quilt. It’s absolutely perfect and yep, the depression glass sets it off well!

I love this quilt, the colors, the quick and engaging construction and the madder pink back (does it match a patch on the front?). The depression glass is just perfect and love the reflection in this quilt back to your mom.
