It’s been a pretty chill week here at Pieceful Thoughts, but I do have a little of this and that to show you. I’m doing quite a bit of secret sewing, just a couple of projects I can’t show you quite yet. In between that, I’ve been doing a little of this and that, so let me share that with you.
Lyra QAL
I decided to join in with the Lyra quilt along hosted by Sandra at mmmQuilts. This is a free quilt along that Sandra offers to celebrate a very special day for her and to honor the memory of her father. After seeing the design, I knew I had to join in. I’ve done a few of Sandra’s quit alongs, my version of Luminous Layers is a favorite as well as my version of Lilac Love are two of my recent favorites.
So I’ve been shopping my stash, and I’m going to give this fabric pull a try. My stash made me work to come up with fabrics that played well together, but these fabrics make me think of spring so we’ll see what happens!
I’ve started cutting the pieces, so you’ll have to stay tuned to see how this turns out. There’s still time to join in if you are interested, just visit Sandra’s blog at the above link for more info.
I’ve been keeping up with the 2026 Block of the Month with A Quilting Life. This is also a free sew along, and the blocks are easy to do. There are tips and videos for each block, and the blocks finish at 12 inches.
With one block each month, it’s easy to keep up. I’m using some of my reproduction fabric scraps in reds and greens for my blocks, so it’s a little different from my usual bright fabrics.
My daughter gave me a block printing kit, and I had some fun playing with that this week.
This was a very fun diversion, and something pretty new to me. I can’t show you what I carved, but you’ll see it in a future post. I’m still surprised that it actually worked! I will definitely be carving more blocks, I really enjoy the carving process.
Wilbs and I did a little shopping recently.
Wilbs thinks this is the best shirt I’ve bought in a long time. He particularly likes it’s soft snugability. I like it because it is loose and comfy, and it pretty much sums up my thoughts lately!

Well I am so pleased to have you once again Wendy! Gorgeous fabric pull. That’s a great shirt, and my Bella would certainly approve. Block of the month quilts are a great way to make those blocks we rarely see in quilts, and for me, have often led to new quilt designs!
I like your fabric pull (is that Grunge I spy?) for Sandra’s lovely pattern. The Quilting Life blocks are very nice, I like your colors. I’m kind of fascinated with your secret block printing/carving project and look forward to seeing it. You Zoom ladies all look so pretty!

That’s a pretty fabric pull for Sandra’s QAL, Wendy! I’ve just been doing the same thing, and came up with something similar in blues, greens, and peach. Summer-y colors! Although I don’t see my name on your list, I won a SAHRR prize, too, and got to pick one of Sew Fresh Quilts’ patterns. Thanks for all you guys do to make that a fun QAL to participate in!

Secret sewing! I am doing some secret sewing for a show I might want to enter. I look forward to your future reveal of the secret sewing. But for now I am enjoying your non-secret sewing shares 🙂
