Finally Finished Friday – you have to love a good alliteration, right? I’m very excited to share a finish today, and it already has a home to go to, so let me share my finish with you.
If you’ve followed me for awhile, you know that I enjoy making quilt tops. Getting them from that point to finished is a bit of a struggle. I get hung up on the right backing, how to quilt it, or another quilt project to start that looks like much more fun. Anyway, this quilt is now finished after languishing for a year!!?? It’s about time, don’t you think?
In June of 2024, Sandra of mmmQuilts! hosted a quilt along of her Luminous Layers quilt pattern. You can read my post here. I had so much fun pulling fabrics for this quilt, the bright golds, the Grunge, and that cute animal print! While I really had intended to quilt this myself, in the end I took it to Connie and she made it look oh-so-much-better than I could have – take a look.

I see that I didn’t smooth out the bottom edge of the quilt after putting it up on my design wall, but it is square, I promise! I made the smaller size of the Lumimous Layers pattern, which finishes at 48.5 inches.
When I leave quilts with Connie, I will usually tell her to just have some fun and do whatever quilting she thinks best. So let me show you what she came up with.

Pretty fun, huh? I always enjoy seeing what she comes up with. Here’s a photo of the back of the quilt, a fun print from my stash.

Here’s a closer view so you can see the animals as well as some of the quilting.

It feels so good to have this one done and ready to go to its new home!
Happy Friday, all!
Wendy

Connie did a great job playing! I like her grid work and leaving some of the lines out!
Thank you, Terry. I’ll pass your comment along to Connie!
That was fun to see how she quilted it. You two make a great team.
I love a “finally finished” quilt! (I’ve had many of those myself!) This turned out just beautifully, Wendy! I remember your fun inspiration print and love the colors you put with it. The backing and the quilting are perfect, too. Hooray for a sweet finish!
That is such a gorgeous quilt, those colors! Connie did a fantastic job on the quilting. Love that backing! I bet the recipient will be thrilled.
Connie went to town quilting that one!!! Love the crosshatching variation!!!
Oh, it looks beautiful and what a great print for the backing. And double bonus for having a plan for its forever home. 🙂
A lovely, bright, happy, clever quilt. You should do something special this weekend to celebrate the finish
I’d say your Connie friend is a keeper!
So very fun!
Cute! I love that! Love the backing fabric.
bright and cheerful, the quilting is very neat – finally a finish is great!! some just take us longer to finish than others
That is a very happy quilt and Connie’s finishing touch made it even more bright. Happy sewing and finishing other projects.
I think this bright and cheerful quilt will make its new owner quite happy. You and Connie do a wonderful job. And Sandra’s patterns are always so fun to sew with. Congrats on a great finish.
Fabulous finish!! Your fabric choices were so cute. I struggle with the same issue – love to piece, but then the quilt top hangs in the closet waiting to be quilted, for far too long.
I think we are all in the same boat, getting the top done is so much fun and getting it finished is another story. everything about yours is cute and so beautiful. The quilting of Connie’s is perfection. A quilt to be proud of.
Wow Connie knocked this one out of the park Wendy! I love the ghost stars, the grid work she did and the arcs, and of course the colours you combined and the backing … just an all-round terrific quilt! Thank you for the shout-out. 🙂 Are you going to make the big size as you’d mentioned?
What a fabulous finish you fabricated (decided to stick with the alliteration). It is so fun and Connie did a great job finishing it. I love seeing this quilt again, as it was such a fun one to make!
Hi Wendy. I. With you; making quilts tops is so much fun but sometimes the finishing has us languishing. I love Sandra’s patterns and your version of Luminous Layers is incredible! As usual Connie did a steller job of quilting it for you. Well done both of you! 🤗 Carol
What a very bright and fun finish! The quilting is really cool too.
Love the variety of quilting. Congrats on the finish.
Such a cute finish! I can see why you had so much fun with the fabrics. I love making the tops for sure but I also love to finish quilts and can’t wait to get to the point where I can be creative with it like Connie–she does such a great job! (If only I’d quit having technical issues! Grrr!). Well done, both of you!
I do love good alliteration and I love that little quilt!
The quilt turned out great and I’m sure it will be loved.
