My April Color Challenge block is done, and just in the nick of time. I’m quilting along with Patterns by Jen and her 2020 Monthly Color Challenge. Each month, Jen gives us a quilt block pattern and a color. Her inspiration for the colors this year are birds. For April, she’s drawing inspiration from the Honeycreeper. Our block color for April is purple.
I organized one of my fabric drawers the other day, and just in time too. I came across purple fabric for this block. I’m pretty sure I used this combination for the color challenge last year, since they were tucked together. I do like the way they work together, though!
Jen does such a great job on the blocks each month. The instructions are easy to follow, and the blocks go together so well. One block each month is a nice pace, too.
From the left, my blocks for January, February and March. Blocks are given on the first of each month, and the pattern is free for that month. After that, there is a small fee. We’re only four months in, so you can still join us. All the details are at Patterns by Jen.

I really like the purple combo! All your blocks look great together. I agree, Jen does a nice job with the patterns, and I might have liked this month’s block pattern the best of the four so far.
Hi Wendy! I am not a huge fan of purple but this block rocks it. I love the two-tone versions of each color of the month you are doing. Good for you for organizing a drawer – I could do some of that easily . . . but I’m not. ~smile~ Roseanne

Oh my gosh – I have yet to make my April block – it seems like I have done little to no sewing this month. I hope I can sneak in this afternoon and make the block. Love yours Wendy!!
