Good morning, friends! I have some Tuesday tidbits to share with you today, to catch you up on what is going on here at Pieceful Thoughts. I was a bit shocked to realize my last post was back at the beginning of July – this month has flown by, and I have very little to show for it. I do have a few little tidbits I’ve worked on, so they’ll have to do. It has been hot and so humid here – perfect weather for quilting, but I’ve spent more time out and about than indoors! Mostly fun, but I’m missing time in the quilt room.
I’m still sewing along with the Sewcialites 3 quilt along, and am keeping up with the blocks. We are now on Block 22, which I have yet to finish, but will work on today. Here are blocks 17-21.
I’m slowly running out of background fabrics to use from these scraps, so pretty soon I’ll have to get creative. My blocks are 6-1/2″ unfinished. These are quick blocks and fun to sew. My stash of scraps from the Songbook line from Fancy That Design House is slowly getting used up!
I’ve also been working on my Oh Granny blocks, and have finished all 30 of them. Here they are!
I’m now thinking about how to complete the quilt top. There will be sashing between the blocks, and I think I know what I’ll use for that. My next task is to make sure the blocks are uniform in size – I know a couple went a little rogue, so I better check them all!
After all that fun with the Granny blocks, I have had a difficult time deciding what to work on next. So I just picked up the left over bits from the Grannies and started stitching them together. So far, I have these on my design wall.
This is just stitching pieces together where they fit and seeing what happens. I don’t know yet what I will do with these. I still have more scraps to play with, so I’ll keep going until I run out or decide to quit.
And the bear quilt is back from Connie waiting for binding. I can’t wait to show it to you!
So this Tuesday Tidbits post also includes my To Do Tuesday list. I’ve not been writing to do lists, and I need to get back to it to keep me on task. Here’s my list for this week:
- Bind the bear quilt
- Sew Block 22 of Sewcialites 3
- Clean machine and replace needle (you too??)
- Start new project!!

Oh my gosh, your grannies and those scrappy blocks are just too cute. I don’t work with a lot of solids, but when I see these fun things you create, it makes me think I need to stock up on some colorful solids.
Both your block projects are beautiful, but I am head over heels in love with your Oh Granny blocks.
Thanks for the reminder about cleaning my machine and changing the needle. It has been idle for a while now, so I needed that nudge for when I do get to turn on my machine again.
You’ve done great with your Sewcialites blocks. I remember that Songbook line, I’ve always loved it. Your Grannies look so pretty together, as well as the bits – doesn’t Diann call those “crumbs”? I can’t wait to see the bear quilt reveal!

Those Sewcialites blocks are so pretty, Wendy! I really love that fabric line you’re using for them. Hope you don’t run out before you make all the blocks you want to make! The Granny blocks (and their scrappy leftovers) are fun and happy, too. Looking forward to seeing the Bear quilt finish – looks like you found the perfect backing for it!
Oh my grannies, look at all those fun blocks. I’m curious to see what you choose for the sashing. Love that cute bear backing fabric–anxiously awaiting the reveal. There’s something very soothing in the fabric combo in the sewcialities blocks you have so far–I hope you’re able to find another background fabric that works well!
I don’t know how big your tidbits from the granny squares are but they would make a fun pillow. How big are the granny squares? That looks like a fun summer quilt as those blocks just shine or on second thought you might need it on bleak winter days!
What a good job you did on the Sewcialites…I haved donwloaded but I don’t think that counts at all. Oh, those bright colorful blocks look fabulous…and hope the rogue ones don’t give you too much trouble. Love the fun scrappy ones you did and you certainly have plenty to do on your list…good luck.
Your Sewcialites blocks looks great and hooray for using up the fabrics (I know that was the goal, so I hope you can stretch them all as far as possible). Your Granny Square blocks are delightful and I look forward to seeing how you put them together. Have fun finishing the bear quilt; it’s always exciting to be close to a finish. And I’m glad that even with all the wildfire smoke, etc., you’ve been able to get some time outside.

Your Granny Blocks are such fun, very bold and colorful. Good luck with your to do list. It’s always motivating for me to be close to a finish. Hope it works that way for you and the bear quilt.
Those Granny squares are the best! I love how casually you say…oh, and I finished all 30. I’d be like jumping up and down. I can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing for the finishing up — another Wendy Masterpiece!
