I should write up a post, I’ve been telling myself lately. It’s been a couple of weeks, so I should write something up. I was a bit shocked to realize it’s been a month. Well, things have been happening in May, I just haven’t been posting! So here’s a little Pieceful This and That to catch you up.
Hubs had a work trip, so I tagged along. We enjoy a good road trip, so we packed up and off we went. We enjoyed exploring a bit of New Mexico. The scenery is beautiful.
This drive took us to The Monastery of Christ in the Desert. We had read that the drive was beautiful, and it was. It was also the nicest day weather-wise, with warmer temps and sunshine. We were grateful that we were driving our truck, the roads were a little rough in places.
On the drive home, we found great coffee shops along the way.
After grabbing iced vanilla lattes at Sage Coffee in Raton, New Mexico, we were back on the road to home.
While in New Mexico, I was able to catch up with a quilty friend for dinner, which I enjoyed. (Thanks, Mary!)
Once we were back home, I got caught up on my Sewcialites 3 blocks and my other two Blocks of the Month. I haven’t photographed the two BOM blocks yet, but here is where I’m at with Sewcialites 3.
I’m using leftover fabric from my Firm Foundation quilt, and I’m happy that the little stash of fabric is decreasing with each little 6-1/2 inch block. Block 14 is waiting to be sewn, so that will be my goal for today.
Before I left on the trip, I made this fun little coin pouch, a Jo Avery pattern.
This was a free pattern offered from Threadhouse Academy to encourage signing up for their current session. It was a fun little pouch to make, and it greets me each day from my design wall.
Meanwhile, Wilbs was just glad to have me home and desperately seeking treats.
And that’s my little bit of Pieceful This and That for you. Today is a sew day, Wilbs and I will be hanging out in the quilt room. More on that in another post!

Your little blocks are so cute, and I love the coin purse.
Good to hear from you. Your trip sounds so enjoyable. Your blocks are very happy looking on the wall and the chicken coin purse is so cute. Do you think you will ever be able to put it in your purse? Wilbs must have been bereft while you were gone and so happy to have you home again. Treats and hanging out in the sewing room can’t be beat.
Glad you enjoyed some fun times along with hubbies work. We are going through Chicago right now on our way home. I think my machines are calling my name, hehe.

Phew! I had a wild ride the last few days preparing for the 6 year old’s birthday. (It was close, what with the helium shortage, and me living in the back of beyond.) All this to say that I was tickled pink to finally settle down with your This and That post when the party was over!
And what a TREAT!!! I lived at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico when I was 7! (At that time the town consisted of an adobe post office with a scary crack down the middle. Period.) It was a magical time of my life. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!

I definitely recognize the New Mexico landscape (we have family in Albuquerque). I’m glad you were able to get together with Mary! May has just flown by this year, hasn’t it? I’m sure Wilbs is glad you are home and have fun working on your BOM blocks and whatever comes next. 🙂
You were in God’s country! I love the scenery and the vibe of northern NM. We used to rent a jeep to go to the backcountry, but my guess is we can’t handle the bouncing around now. What a cute little coin pouch, and you are doing great on your Sewcialites. Poor Wilbs, I bet he almost starved while you were gone. 😉
